  • Anyone, please?

  • Hi guys, I have just read this guide on how to release my C2 game to Android with crosswalk: https://www.scirra.com/tutorials/809/ho ... -crosswalk

    In the past I always used CocoonJS, but it has been depricated quite some time ago. I haven't used crosswalk so far, but I remember that one of cocoonJS benefits was its awesome performance. How does Crosswalk behave in that respect? Is the performance comparable or is it much slower?

  • Hi guys,

    I am trying to implementing IAP to an app that I have on the google play store. Few facts:

    • App is made with construct 2
    • App is build using CocoonJS
    • Billing-Permission is requested/granted in CocoonJS/cocoon.io (for both productive and beta app)
    • IAP is set up in Google Play Developer Console

    Here is the relevant code portion:

    Here's my problem: When I start the layout on an Android device my debug console reads:

    "Requesting store listing...

    WARNING: Store not available!"

    In other words, the app somehow cannot connect with the google play store. Any ideas why that might be the case?

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Hi Constructers

    I need to react to the browser/device locale settings in my game/app built with construct 2? For example, I want a button to link to different websites based on the user's device locale settings, e.g.

    en-US -> goto example.com

    de-DE -> goto beispiel.de

    fr-FR -> goto exemple.fr

    Is it possible to identify the locale settings from inside my construct 2 game at runtime???

    Chris

  • this might be a good tool for poor memory victims. heck, it might even help alzheimer's victims. the interaction almost forces you to improve your memory passively, without even realizing it.

    Hey again harrio! That is actually quite an interisting way of looking at my game. I'm not sure if a game with exactly that setting would be the correct tool to help sick people, however, it is a great thing for me to realize that I have created an entertaining product that helps people to "learn" / "improve" / "practice" while having fun!!! So thanks for that feedback!

    I like the idea that you can get something out of my game that sticks even if you quit playing!!!

    I've just gone through a bit of the text to find the spelling errors, so here's a list:

    In the tutorial:

    'The screen consit' - should be 'consists'

    'zombies are weak and vulnurable' should be 'vulnerable'.

    'shooting zombies will earn you expirience' should be 'experience'

    'regular cars' should be 'cards'

    then in the gym: 'increase damage dealed' should be 'dealt'.

    Considering english isn't your first language, you did remarkably well (better than a lot of english people). I'm sure I'll be drawn back into playing your game again soon, so if I notice any more spelling mistakes I'll be sure to let you know.

    Dave Hailwood: Thanks a lot. That's definitely going to help a lot. I'll try to find some time to polish that up. Currently my schedule is quite tight, that is why I entered the compition about three weeks before the deadline ;o) I'll see what I can do. Thanks a lot for your help.

    t'll probably be a few more weeks before my own game's ready for submission, though you can follow its development in the Construct2 forum (it's called Board Horde). The trickiest part is going to be optimising the game for mobile phones, since board games are best played on larger screen devices like ipads.

    good luck, and I look forward to viewing any other game you create in the future.

    I just tried your game and it's a lot of fun, man. Yeah, keep polishing that one... I'm eager to see the final competition entry! I'll follow your thread and see how it turns out!

    Chris

  • Wow, your game is awesome, man. I just tried it and I loved it! Great job!!!

    I also entered the compition yesterday with my game "Remember the Dead" and I'm really looking forward to the outcome of the contest! It's my first game ever, so that makes this even more interesting ;o)

    Yours is definitely worth a NG-five-star rating, which I'm going to file right after posting this here ;o)

    All the best,

    Chris

  • I just had a lot of fun finding gems and being eaten by zombies, so thanks for that. So far, this is my favourite of the Newgrounds entries that I've played as the power-ups etc give it a bit more lastability. I managed to kill 20 zombies before I died, which is much more than I've ever managed in real life.

    Thanks a lot for your nice feedback, Dave Hailwood. Great to actually hear that you liked my game design. Thanks for testing the game and giving some feedback!

    I did notice a few spelling mistakes here and there, but with the amount of text you're using it was inevitable (still, it might be worth a touch up before the end of the competition).

    Seriously!? No, you are absolutely right: Spelling mistakes are always a bad thing. It always gives me the feeling that a designer/author was lacking dedication to his product. I thought I thoroughly checked for spelling mistakes, but obviously a few slipped through anyway. I am not a native speaker - however, that's an explanation, but no excuse ;o)

    Would you mind to point me to some of the mistakes I made??? I'd appreciate that!

    I'm hoping to have my own contribution finished before the deadline, though I've got a lot of optimisation to do for smaller mobile devices such as iphone (since that seems to be the main device Tom Fulp is testing on. Most of the issues he's experienced with the current batch of games seems to relate to the audio, which is always a problem with Html5)

    Good luck for you and your game. Let me know when it's finished and enters the compition.

    Also, thanks on your hints regarding the tags of my game. I already talked to Tom and he said he added it to the contest ;o)

    Is it me or it's a clone of 1000000 ?

    Hi Whiteclaws! I don't consider RtD to be a clone. For that it has too many different ideas; in my opinion it's just a completely different game. Yet, the game is inspired by hit games like Dungeon Raid or -as you mentioned- 10,000,000. Yes: It's a puzzle game with RPG elements. I think it's not a shame that you had role models, is it? However, thanks a lot for your feedback.

    TheStoepsel2001

    hi very addictive game, which I really enjoyed: the combination of the fight and solving puzzles, and spending the sounds worked well too, like the layout; moving between the town and to the fight scene good game

    Thanks mineet for trying and letting me know what you thought about the game. Glad that you liked it ;o)

    ohmygoodness sir,

    you've got a winner there. tension from the word go...lol. you actually create a sense of dread and threat with slow moving zombies, because every decision makes or breaks you. i loved this game.

    well done.

    Hi harrio! Wow, what a nice feedback. It was pleasure reading that one ;o) Thanks for that ;o)

  • Hi guys, what's up? I would like to introduce you to my first complete Construct 2 game, called "Remember the Dead".

    I spent a good one and a half month building this game, creating assets, balancing etc. The people who I asked for feedback during the design phases really enjoyed it. If you enjoy the game too, please give me some feedback and -if possible by any chance- please rate the game on Newgrounds, since this game is participating in their Construct 2-Competition.

    If there is anything you dislike, please let me know, too. I'm eager to learn from any feedback I can get.

    <img src="http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/7634/rtdicon256x.png" border="0">

    GAME IDEA:

    emember the Dead is a Puzzle-Action-Game with massive RPG elements. Defend your home town and yourself by teasing your brain with a classic memory puzzle game. At the same time, fight the incoming zombie hordes with your shotgun, earn experience, level up, buy perks and new memory cards from the gold you loot at the battlefield.

    Remember the Dead features three different difficulties, which should be suitable for players of all levels of experience. Also, you can adjust the difficulty of the game by setting the pace of how quickly your enemies level by yourself: Of course, fighting stronger enemies will give you more experience and a higher score.

    SOME FACTS AND FIGURES ;o)

    RtD was built using Construct 2 r119.

    - game consists of ~940 events in 9 event sheets.

    - file size is about 15 MB

    Again, if you have any questions, ideas, feedback, whatsoever, please let me know!!!

    Enjoy "Remember the Dead".

    Regards,

    Chris

  • I think you need to be a little more specific about that. What exactly is the problem? Where do you get stuck?

    Two ideas/questions from the top of my head:

    1. Did you work your way through the getting started tutorials here in the tutorials sections? That covers a lot!

    2. Write a game design document: What is the gameplay like? How do the gamemechanics work? etc. Then, starting with that you can begin coding/building step by step. If you get stuck, you can ask more specific questions here! ;o)

    Regards,

    Chris

  • Okay, what I've found so far after a google research is some code from the page doc.ludei.com/CocoonJS_App_ForCocoonJS/symbols/src/cocoonjsextensions_CocoonJS_App_ForCocoonJS.js.html that contains the following:

    6     /**

    7     * This namespace represents all the basic functionalities available in the CocoonJS extension API.

    8     * namespace

    9     */

    10     CocoonJS.App = CocoonJS.App ? CocoonJS.App : {};

    11

    12     if (!CocoonJS.App.nativeExtensionObjectAvailable)

    13     {

    14        (function createWebView() {

    15             [...]

    22             CocoonJS.App.EmulatedWebView.style.backgroundColor = 'transparent';

    23             [...]

    33        })();

    34     }

    However, how and where do I have to include that into my c2runtime.js? Any ideas?

  • Hi guys,

    is there any way to change the CocoonJS canvas' background color with construct 2? My game is supposed to support multiple mobile form factors and on some the layout does not fill the entire screen. The default background color of the canvas appears to be white, which results in having a white horizontal border on the bottom of the screen when running my game on my Android tablet for example. Is there a way to control that background color's attribute from Construct 2 or is there a file I can edit after export?

    Regards, Chris

  • > You can also try to use photoshop's or gimp's "magic stick". [...]

    For sprites where the magic wand [...]

    Thanks for the correction. My GIMP is setup in German, and I couldn't come up with a better translation. Magic "Stick" sounds kinda weird, now that I'm reviewing it ;o)

  • You can also try to use photoshop's or gimp's "magic stick". It's a tool that allows you to make selections by the color (or a variety colors and shades, depending on how you set it up). It always depends on the picture. If it has a very good contrast to the background, this tool might work quite nicely!!!

  • Right after spawning your SpriteObject, you can create an action of the newly created object. Scroll all the way down to "Z Order". Then click "Move to bottom". That will move your object to the bottom of the layer it is on!
