  • I've decided, in part of my new planning, to start journaling (blogging, jotting, ...etc) my progress. I think it will help me get closer to reaching my goal of publishing the projects along with having a few games I would enjoy playing. Maybe, I will entice a few others to join and become a wonderful indie team.

Here is the link to the journaling along with images.

I will update more pics and info as I go.

Love to hear what others think.

  • I love the beginners tutorial of Top Down Shooter and Platforms. They are so detailed. I've searched, but can't seem to find one regarding a Double Dragon Streets of Rage type one. I have the sprites to do so, just would like to have a guide on how to since I'm a complete beginner.

Anything close to one for Construct?

For one, I have 2 frame animation to jump, but how do I make him actually jump when button/key is pressed?

    Thanks

  • So, as I'm learning this engine, I have a few questions.

    1. I took Nes's Double Dragon's 1st level background and made it my layout. I made Billy (character) a 3 sprite/frame animation. I put on constant loop so even when he stops walking, he stays in place, but feet keep going. How do I make him look like he is standing still when I have him stop?

    2. I gave him 8 directional movement, but when I press up or down he keeps the walking motion, but tries walking up walls either sideways or upside down. I need for him to stop where the sidewalk/street meets the building walls, but how?

    3. I have a two frame jump animation, but can't figure out how to implement it in to Construct and make him jump?

    All help would be appreciated.

  • Love the graphics! Congrats on Steam.

  • Okay, thanks. I was able to type it in and it took. The ship still goes off the screen to the right and down. I tried making the background layout 800x480, like the book says. So I'm wondering if it's the Position number needs to be changed or the window the run layout doesn't quit fit the entire background borders.

  • Thanks. I'm going to try later tonight.

  • The add event is: player (icon) Y (is greater or equal symbol) LayoutHeight - 20 (Assuming that's negative 20) then the action is Player Set Y to LayoutHeight - 20

Then the next event, is X instead of Y and replace height with width.

I tried the compare x and compare y events, but the ship still goes off screen when going right or down.

There is no LayoutHeight or LayoutWidth options.

My 2 events before them are just Set Y or Set X and those worked.

Was there an update that changed it to something different?

    Thanks for your replying.

  • I'm trying to follow the Moon Wolf tutorial from the book. It wants me to set the player as Set Y> Layoutwidth -20, but I can't find Layoutwidth in the event options. There is compare height and set Y, but that didn't work. I tried manually typing in it with - 20, but testing it still made the character either go off the screen or not move down at all. I need to do the same with X. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  • Wow! I love Link to the Past! The programming is beyond my ability, my focus is pixel art. Maybe this could help.

  • This looks nice. Keep going.

  • Congrats! I see it has been Green lit.

  • Thank you.

  • I say go for it. Scratch out each super hero and increase attributes with each new one? Will a player be limited to how many super heroes they can call upon, forcing them to drop or trade in to meet needs?

It would be kind of cool if one player builds up a hero, they could swap with other real players...maybe make a two for one trade ( of course, I'm getting a little ahead on this.)

Will certain areas or enemies have "kryptonite" to weaken a hero?

Will the main character begin to obtain several powers from each hero to be used once per battle, maybe making the character an ultimate hero?

    Sorry about all the questions.

  • Oops, Samus from Metroid.
