  • I think the steps may have been That I I did some pasting of new frames into an animation. Maybe there was a # mismatch and it left the remaining frames #'s, devoid of data.

  • It worked!!!!!

I presume this may seem remarkably simple to some. But it's still Latin to the non programmer. Also hindered by the animation editor crashing on my PC, forcing me to pop open a separate computer to edit images.

    THANKS Zenox98!!!

I am unclear how there were blank animations created. But it was one of the last things I edited before the issue.    So, in replacing frames, there were empty dead ones left over? With no data at all?

Maybe a pop-up alert stating "your program won't run, you have data-less frames" might help.

Either way...I have new skills now.

    TY

  • THANKS!   I'll tinker with that.

I found that Popuphead issue but did not know what it meant.

The Capx was chopped down per instruction.   I see your point about it not running.   I presume the full copy will run after i fix the errors.

  • There seems to be an error in the HTML produced in my project. I can no longer preview it.

I did not use any third party plugins that I am aware of. It just started after some routine editing of objects.

I am unclear on how to remedy.

I deleted big hunks of my large project to reduce the capx. so the project is choppy. but the error reproduces.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. open capx, hit preview.

    2. CNTRL-SHIFT-J in browser produces same errors, I am unclear how they occurred or how to remedy.

    3.

    Observed result:

Error messages. screen shots below.   run the capx, you should get the same and have no need to look at these.

    Expected result:

    Able to preview

    Browsers affected:

    Chrome: yes

    Firefox: yes

    Internet Explorer: yes

    Operating system & service pack:

    Win 7 ultimate SP1

    Construct 2 version:

    146, 64 bit

  • Not sure if this is a bug so I'll start here and hope someone knows a quick fix.

Preview stopped working. below are all the errors I screen-shotted.

It does not happen in other capx files. just my main project (316 events, no 3rd party plugins used, that I am aware of).

happens in all browsers(chrome, expl, FFox)

    Does this look familiar to anyone?? <img src="smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> I'm not a coder.

  • yup. Got it.     I was just searching around. in a rush, not lot of time free.

  • What is a 000 file? I'm getting shutout of the preview also.   I'll be looking at Ashley's link.

  • It happened well prior to driver update.

It may have started after a batch windows updates.

    Thanks for trying.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Installed new graphics driver.(the C2 new version installs said my driver was up to date , but it was not)

    2. Re-installed C2

    3.

    Observed result:

Any time the Image editor is closed it crashes. "C2 has stopped working......"

    ANYTIME, ANY FILE.

I doubt you will reproduce, but capx included so you will read my Bug report.

    ANY ideas?

    Expected result:

    No crashing

    Browsers affected:

Chrome: N/A   since it is not running the game outside the C2 program.

    Firefox: yes/no

    Internet Explorer: yes/no

    Operating system & service pack:

    Win7 Ultimate , SP1, 64 bit, 8GB RAM, AMD Raedeon HD 6800 PCIe

  • Just had some fun playing Dungeon Rogue.   Nice.

    What is your C2 background?

  • So I'm undertaking some downsizing for mobile performance issues on my first game. All errors of inexperience I'm assuming.

    Currently-Game: 10MB, 30MB "memory use", 274 events

    Comentary Welcome.....

So here's a list of what I'll tackle first for performance regain(I've respected many basic performance recommendations already, links below)-

1.)1280x720! Ok, too big.    I'll reduce to 1024X576   Or maybe even 854x480.

2.) Shrink all the sprites accordingly....e.g. from 256x256 to 64x64 etc...

3.) Reduce some heavy performance elements like rotation, #'s of objects onscreen(with physics etc), Set position/size/etc every tic....

I'll start there.   I'll update How it goes and other things I try. Maybe it will help others in the future.

I read the basics on performance prior to starting my first game...but I should have read more. Here are some links for those with similar issues.

    <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Having a blast with C2! Still! And BTW This forum is great because of the experienced dev.s who keep returning to post comentary....I'm not sure how you find the time BUT <font face="Courier New, Courier, mono">THANK YOU!!!!!!<img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> </font><font color=red>Thank YOU!</font> <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    TY

So it's more for clean development and will not render a performance issue.

Still it's cool. I can just create a blank layout and place all the flotsam object instances on that. And C2 will spawn/generate on the active layout as needed?

Ah, I can already feel the mental relaxation I'll get from not having to look at a junkpile of objects while trying to create an asthetic.

    I'll try it.

    TY

  • Yup ! Some of mine ... are !

    ......

    - Dump all your objects on a layout so they won't interfere with the main layout

    ........

    Cheers !

Can you elaborate on that?   Will it help with performance?

    TY,

    Ed

  • Tried to revert to r139 but got message, "This project was created in a newer version and cannot be opened in r139 etc..."   NBD.

  • Workaround agreed.    But when us "non-Programmers" get a black screen of death it is often a huge hurdle or deal breaker. (No programming experience required?) I had a Java programmer come over to help me with the apk signing stuff and he walked away saying "good luck" with the black screen thing. let me know if you fix that."

Anyway, I ran across this solution by sheer dumb luck   while trying to solve another issue. why my C2 prog. crashes(workaround=trying laptop instead of PC).

So, Yes, I like/want accelerated...but with a workaround, at least I can move forward and keep working and not be 100% dead in the water.

I like C2, I'm having much fun, don't get me wrong.   I just worry about getting to completion.
