  • yea you were right about it needing a animation change once animation is finished....

some odd reason i just expect the states to go back to the original states before the line of sight is activated.

  • line 224 is what im referring to

  • i can get the sprite to change animation once im within the set pixel distance for line of sight but when i leave out of that distance it does not go back to its original animation , not sure why.?

  • Problem Description

Construct 2 not saving when I press the save button.

I am not sure if its because I leave construct 2 open for a few days with out closing it down. I saved my progress many times but it seemed to not be actually saving.

  • anyway, just an idea.....

  • Just because you do not know of any doesn't mean it could not be started. important trying to grow as a construct user. there was a list done of expressions. it would be great to have a section like the Faq section for tutorial page that people can post small projects that demonstrate expressions. i know it can't be done in one day...i just know. people like helping out and would help..

  • Just wanted to bump this again. I think its very important to have a special page for Expressions that had several examples on how to use them. Like the example....distance(sprite.x,sprite.y,sprite.x,sprite.y) ...I do remember seeing that in the expressions list that was made but never really new how to use it until the other day.......It would be nice to see how these expressions can be used. Just so that we know it exist and can use it later if it fits what we need.

going to try and bump this every week until the right person sees it.

  • thanks for that 2nd example. i still need to tweak mine, I never new about the hotspot. I really wish there was a Expressions thread that did several examples for each one.

  • Ill stick with it stretching like that. when the dog moves back and forth i tried to make it like he is being pulled back from the chain anyway. So the stretching helps sell the idea.

still would be nice to know how to fix that if possible for future ref.

  • It would be nice to have a page just for Expressions. I saw the one that is there already but I theres not enough examples on what to use them for.

I saw this but I do not really get what I am reading. Im the type of person that needs examples. Wish we had a specific thread just for expression examples. I know that would be a lot but over time it would build up.

    This capx is from rekjl.

I wanted a sprite that stretched from one point to another. Had no clue on how to do that. Now I have a better understanding after help from Rekjl. it would be nice to have a section dedcated to expressions and different examples with explanations on why it works. Not all of us are born with it.. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

  • thanks a lot for doing that for me. I still need to understand expressions and how to use them. I noticed in your math you put distance in there..i didnt even put it there when i tried it.

anyway got it to work..i tried it using tile background but got bad results because you can put image points in a tile background, so the start point was all wierd.

everything looks good except the stretching that i get.

  • dog chain code is in Event sheet 1 at the very bottom.

    http://www.dwbailey.com/images/dogchain.capx

  • chainTiled.X, chaintiled.y, dog.x,dog.y

this is what I put down for the Set width to distance and I get an error, something about the syntax.

  • I have a dog sprite that has a bullet behavior on it and he runs right and left...now I want a chain to extend out

    and follow the dog...

Now a friend suggested that I use a tiled background and I am and in my event sheet I have every 5 sec, set width of dogchain.x +32... something like that...

is there a way to set two pivot points on my tiled background image...one to pin to the dog house and one to pin on the dog..and have it automatically stretch in and out depending on the pos of the dog?
