  • Hi,

    I attended a game jam in Luton last week organised by Train2Game & used Construct 2 (Free Version) to develop a prototype platform game. Haven't used construct 2 for quite a while & am at more or less beginner level with using it. However i managed to get the game working with most of the basic features, moving, interacting with objects, environments, enemies, reaching the end point of the level etc , but have spent the last few days since the game jam practicing, adding some of the items & features that i didn't get time to add due to time constraints with it being a 48 hour event...

    Most of the game is now working relatively good (I hope so) & am able to understand how to fix some niggley problems that occur but i have just 1 minor problem that i can't figure out how to solve & that's with the players health bar. It works fine as it should, have the health set at 100 & each hit reduces the bar by 25%, have also added health items that increase the bar by 25% which works fine, the only exception is when the health bar is already at 100% & a health item is picked up the bar keeps increasing,

    I'm sure that its probably a simple fix but i can't figure it out at the moment. Is there a way to stop the bar from increasing once it is at 100%?

    Again i'm just getting back into using the program, haven't used it in months so trying to understand the features etc,

    Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks

  • Thanks i have used ur idea & it works great, just having a slight problem,

    i have it set to position that when the bar reaches the end it stops & i can press the - button to decrease the bar to the end, but then once the bar reaches the start point again & when i press the - button again & then go to press the + button nothing happens, luckily i can press the back button to move to a previous screen & go back in again & everything is reset... not sure how to solve this,

    thanks again... its been a massive help... <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Hi, i'm new to this forum & its my first post on it, i'm a student studying video games design in Dundalk institute of technology (DKIT) in ireland & am a beginner in using construct 2, i plan to keep using it & learn more about it once i have finished the course as it is an excellent program to use especially for a beginner like myself...

    I have used the program over the last while to create prototypes for games projects etc, & am currently working on an assignment were i have to implement a basic menu style interface into a game prototype i created earlier in the year (start, options changing game settings, sound etc...

    I have most of it working up to a certain point making sure buttons are working & linking to layouts & screens etc, but i am having trouble trying to figure out how to create an adjustable slider bar on one of the screens, a few examples are shown below...

    <img src="http://excitedaboutgaming.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/menu-screen.jpg" border="0" />

    <img src="http://excitedaboutgaming.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/slider-bar-1.png" border="0" />

    <img src="http://excitedaboutgaming.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/slider-bar-2.png" border="0" />

    <img src="http://excitedaboutgaming.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/slider-bar-3.png" border="0" />

    <img src="http://excitedaboutgaming.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/slider-bar-4.png" border="0" />

    I want each of the bars to increase & decrease once the buttons on either side have been pressed to adjust the volume levels of each option, i'm just not sure how to go about getting this to actually work,

    I have tried creating the separate bar images as seen above & tried creating an animation to see if that would work, but not sure if i'm doing the right thing or not...

    If anyone has any ideas's on this issue, it would be a great help

    Thanks...
