Simple Games's Forum Posts

  • newt there are still use cases for this, even if it's not a movie. For example, you might want to change timescale to speed up the game, but animations keep playing at normal speed. Or when the game runs below 60 fps because of the performance - animations will be slowed down to match fps limit, even though the game is not slowed down.

Anyway, Ashley had already answered this question before:

  • As oosyrag had mentioned, you might have accidentally added it to an invisible layer, which often happens. Enable all layers, and see if it's there.

If it isn't the case - drag the object from "PROJECT" bar on the right onto the layout.

  • Probably, parallax is set to 0 on those layers.

  • You can use Pin behavior

  • Like this?

You just need to change the "light" sprite from circle to cone, to make it look like flashlight instead of torch

  • Congrats on the release! It's cute and well-polished, should be fun for a few hours. I'm not sure, if it's because of my ultrawide monitor, or is there some motion-blur effect, but my eyes start getting tired after 15 minutes. Maybe if it was a little more zoomed-out - it would be easier to look at, because right now I need to really try hard to stay focused on the course.

  • I see, in this case in Properties set Fullscreen mode to Scale outer. After this, changing layer background color on the lowest layer will change the color of these black bars.

  • System - Set layer background color

  • To avoid unlimited revenue - only give the reward once, it's not like they need to install your other game more than once anyway. As to verifying the social media sharing - I don't know, I never used this feature.

  • The easy way would be: in the menu add a special little button that shows a code like "12345", a unique code for each game. Then user can use this code to get bonuses in the other games by typing it in some text box.

Or you can add links to your other games and just give out rewards as soon as user opens the link. If you specifically ask them to install the game in exchange for reward - most users will actually do it, because they don't know that you cannot detect the install. That's how it always worked with requesting a review/rating.

  • You can't post it on Scirra Arcade, but if you want to post it on other websites and platforms - there shouldn't be any problems.

  • I'm not sure if there is such an option on arcade.

But you can make a simple starting layout with "Text input" object. Make up a password, add the condition to check if text in Text input equals to your password, and if it does - proceed to the actual starting layout. In this case the game will still be visible to other players on arcade, they just won't be able to access the content behind the password.

  • Oh, and maybe add a screenshot of the cupid section from trailer as one of the first screenshots to demonstrate more gameplay diversity. Or maybe some other events / boss fights if you have any.

  • Looks really good, especially in videos and GIFs! Definitely has some potential for marketability on social media through GIFs. I would suggest mixing up screenshots on steam - the first 4 are the most important, and 3 of them currently show the same environment while there are better screenshots later. Good luck with the project!
