  • Great little game. (^_^)

I enjoyed the mechanics and pace. Felt really bad for burning villagers as they screamed!

I got a little 'screen blind' with the cross-hair, thin red on green doesn't translate well and good luck if you're colour blind!

So I might improve the readability of the cross-hair but other than that great work.

  • I won (^_^)

    Thanks for sharing capx.

I've been working on something like this myself; will be helpful to see how you handled it.

  • I like to keep a few projects running at a time.

One reason is to take a break when it starts to drag and just try something new and light so it doesn't get tedious this can be a bit like brain storming where you just go with the flow and see what happens.

Another is that lots of problems with game mechanics can be solved faster individually rather than in a large project. This way lots of little projects can come together and get to really shine as part of a larger project combining these elements.

  • Nevermind!

I just had to re-check what C2 thought my Machine IP was and reselect it.

Guessing multiple machines on a network cause the number to change from time to time.

  • Really don't understand what's happened here but I can't preview on local anymore without it defaulting to localhost and telling me I need to run C2 as administrator.

I already run C2 as administrator, also have made sure by running as admin from the shortcut.

This is happening on both my machines one up to date C2 one an older version so I really don't think it's a C2 bug.

One machine is Vista the other Win7.

This was all working fine at least up to a week a so ago [guessing a bit when I last used it] and the settings are all still the same in the export dialogue.

I really can't think what's causing this, any help appreciated.

    Cheers, Sho.

  • Ok Arima - thanks, tried it on a few different machines/browser versions and it's the same results. They render out the webgl test pages as you would expect but the effects from C2 won't work unless it's an up to date version of browser and OS.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Maybe it would be simpler to use an array rather than writing strings?

  • Erm?

Just occurred to me that if that was the reason wouldn't it mean I wouldn't be able to see any Web GL effects?

As mentioned in the first post I've successfully viewed Web GL being rendered from other sources in the browser.

    Head scratching begins again.

  • Ah - that'll be it.

    Running Vista on said machine.

So it's just a case of them nerfing it.

Well at least it's not a weird glitch and best of all - I didn't cause it.

Thanks for the info. Search results where throwing up to many unrelated results.

    Cheers, Sho.

  • Hey Guys, my name is Sho.

I'm an artist, photographer and web designer.

I've always had a passion for animation and game design.

Just recently realising the potential of the time period we're living in it seems suddenly everything is coming together.

In the past I'd spend ages researching and/or learning software only to stumble at a price tag on software or find that gap in knowledge when trying to learn software/technique now it all seems to have fallen into place.

Having had the Adobe CC for a while now and getting some free time to work on personal projects I turned back to the idea of game making and got stuck back into flash - digging out old files to rinse of code I cobbled something together and went to package it as an app to find it needed to be AS 3 not 2.

Well, I'm not a great programmer or owt, used to just hacking up snippets and bodging the best I can when I do JS or PHP for myself so I was off on youtube researching the AS3 stuff when I came across this.

It's been about six weeks of pure joy.

This seems like the perfect tool for my needs.

It's also very intuative in a way where just plain code would maybe stump me this seems to flow better from my own vague idea of how 'stuff' should work. When I do get stumped the manual, forum or tutorials generally have the answer.

Fantastic. This is where Stencyl fell short for me as when I got that - [ no idea what it's like now and I don't care ] I just couldn't get any answers. It seemed there where no videos or documentation to ease you up the learning curve.

With this I've been making prototypes and testing game mechanics every day since purchase.

A purchase I was happy to make - what a fantastic price!

I hope I make some money out of this just to through some more at the awesome guys who came up with this software!

    Good Job Guys (^_^)

Hope to have some demos out soon for you guys to check out so in the mean time, thanks to the guys at C2, everyone who has written a tut' or posted on youtube and all the guys still living to make great games!

    Cheers, Sho.

  • Hi guys, apologies in advance if this is in the wrong area or has come up before but I couldn't find it with 'search' and I'm sure it's not a bug with Construct 2 itself. So...

I've had C2 for a month or so now and been working through tutorials and my own exploration - all fantastic stuff.

One project I'd saved and came back to today was an overhead asteroid kinda deal. It was made following the Asteroid in less than 100 events or whatever it's called. I kind of got lost towards the whole UID deal but cobbled together something decent.

Anyhoo, my thruster animations had the horizontal and vertical blur applied.

When I was first making the project these effects didn't show up in FF or IE but would render in Chrome as displayed in C2.

Now some time has passed and through other tutorials and tinkering I've gained a bit more confidence with the UIDs I came back to this project but the effects no longer render in Chrome on the machine I'm working on.

I've checked it on other machines with varying results [all others render the effect in chrome but some don't play the audio?] and I've created a simple project on this machine - just a sprite with a glow and still no rendering it Chrome?

I'm pretty sure this isn't a bug or indeed anything to do with C2. I've checked my version of Chrome on this machine is up to date and also checked it does indeed render out Web GL effects from other sources.

So... Any ideas? Do I just write this off as some kind of corrupt browser thing on this particular machine? Or just some glitch and test on multiple machines or is there some kind of tangible reason for this?

Not really expecting much of a response but it is bugging me so please feel free to try and shed some light.

    Cheers, Sho.
