  • What do you mean by, if it won't suck. Dont make it sucky then. Yes, it is your own choice making a good game or a bad one. Just polish the art, mechanic and remove all awkawrdness until you feel satisfied and confident it is something a lot people would love to play.

The only thing I like about your game right now, is the goofy sound it makes, when you jump.

  • I play my own game, way too much. I keep playtesting it without realizing I should be just testing it. Other than that, War Thunder, but that was before my game.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Well I did the same expressions and voices and my score was a staggering 3 XD.

So I will share this for all the flappy bird lovers out there and take a look how not so fans of this game react to your favorite game. Also for all the other people out there whose reaction times are non-existent. Enjoy!

A lot of detail still missing from backround, like pillars, cranes, catwalks, stairs and other factory-ish goodies.

Also the solid platform, where the game takes place still has placeholder graphics.

2 Enemy types missing, but overall, I am pleased with it so far .

  • thanks everyone! unfortunately this want meant to be a 3 week uni project and my final project is starting tomorrow, so I won't have all that time to improve this project...

by the way, I made it with construct, and pixelart with photoshop

No, thank you for sharing with us your project! Also, I hope to see what your nimble fingers will cook up in the future .

Edit: One more question, on what OS and brower did you make and test your game?

  • I tryed adding the behaviour to the turret and now I have the tank+turret moving together, but when I rotate de turret, this go away...

Thanks for offering me help with graphics, but that is kind of my strongest side, so I probably wont need that kind of help. Tough I admit I do have a lot of room for improvement.

I tried out your capx, and I didnt encounter that problem. all I did btw was add the vehice behavior for the turret also, so I dont know what is going on with your tank right now. Upload the new capx and I will take a look at it.

I actually dont get it how come you are having so much trouble with them , my test tank with turret was moving for quite well and for my game I am using different kind of behavior for my main(wheele has physics) sprite and turret( gun has solid). Same applies for my enemies, enemy main sprite has bullet and solid behavior and the turret has just turret and pin behavior.

  • Wow, The Next Penelope looks amazing. Without wanting to knock Construct 2, the guys making it really seem to know their stuff - is there a reason they're using C2 instead of coding it?

The tools man, it is all point and klick and you have a game . Actually I have no idea why exactly, but I am guessing it is because you can add events in seconds, but coding takes mins.

  • Make bullet not collide with you, isnt that an answer in question ) say an enemy tank, the enemy tank gets busted, and so does your bullet.

Just look threw all of the examples, they are must go threw, if you have a license as I see you do and you intend to get some money from that investment of yours.

I am in the process of making a full free game myself(demo link available to see if you klick my name and scroll down). A week ago I had zero experience in making any sort of game, let alone say programing, music, art for games. in 4 days I had that demo cooked up and posted on Arcade. I cant imagine what will come out of it eventually, but I am sure some people might really like it.

So good luck with your creation!

  • SharpedX this was in-pocket. Most was through a publishing deal as opposed to sales though, as we released for free initially.

By deal you mean, they bought your game with a set price if it reached a certain goal?

That was a noob question, but I am just learning the ropes of this trade and I am not commited to it by finacial goal, it is rather a hobby right now, that I am spending a whole lot of time on .

  • Mortar Melon has made around $45,000.

Mind if I ask, if the whole 45k made into your pocket, or it just is the total gross income with sales?

Edit: 800k downloads :O of Mortal melon, BAFTA winner. Any intern spots for your developer studio?

  • I checked the Next Penelope video diary on youtube, and I noticed their team looks fairly professional and they are taking the process whole-heartedly.

  • With more time, sure I would. But that was a 3 week assignment, and even if I could add dozens of more features, you get at one point you should stop yourself. Other projects on my website are also 2/4 weeks one, and using construct it was the best way for me to do those. Hopefully my final project is going to be bigger (and I'm not offended at all!)

One thing. In the game folder there is dxwebsetup.exe . Try to run that and than run the game again

Before I run the game, I actually klicked the dxwebsetup.exe . Call it a old habbit.

  • A soccer game for first game? It would make anyone brain hurt, if you dont know the tools you are working with . I cant help you much, but I see you should get help from some of the examples that came with construct 2. I looked threw all of them, to see how they were set up and by now I can make mostly all of them all by myself, if someone said just the name of the example. I guess the obvious question, how to simulate height on a 2d plane, would be with angular size, and it is doable with events, that change the size of the sprite on certain conditons. You can even set if the size is bigger or equal that this, it would ignore sprites on scene (players).

  • Apply vehicle behaviour for turret also. the container is not broken when creating the turret, rather, It doesnt have the same default movement set by behavior .

Edit: dont forget to move the initial tankturret on the base if you are going use it on the same layout.

  • I tried fiddling with construct classic a while ago. Which is completely free, by the way. But your game is made in construct 2? So what I am going to say, might offend you, but it is not my intention. This game could had been made in classic and you could had monetized it, without spending a dime on the engine license itself. It is failrly basic. I have a similar game on my 5 year old mobile which doesnt want play anything usually, but that game has far more mechanic and complexity to it, the pixel art is even better than yours. So take your time, and fiddle around with it more, and since your strong point is your art, which I truly belive it is, utilze it by adding more detail and life to your levels. Like lighting, randomly appearing dustballs, animated wind breezes, a little more animation going on the backdrop. I belive you can do it, otherwise I wouldnt say it (your portfolio speaks for it).
