  • randomly Im just trying to figure out how to have my text numbers to add commas automatically. Its so common that you would think that it should be implemented in engine as an out the box feature.

instead of portraying my one million as so 1000000 i would like to see ten thousand like this 10,000 instead of like this 10000 as an example. I would like commas to be added as the gold amount scales. The issue is if i dont really get how to do this and try to implement it within my inventory system i feel like im going to have issues. This is why i think it would be awesome to have a stable way for all of us to be able to do this. its just so common that we portray numbers as currency in games.

I would be grateful to get your help and thanks for the feedback aswell.

one more thing, would a plugin like this be easy to make?

  • I feel like ive looked at every tutorial on the page and i did not see any talking about how to show commas with our currency text object. Is there a simple way to go about doing this? With economy games and just the sheer fact that most games do use some type of counting method proves that this would be a very helpful plugin or behavior to have for all of us that fail at math. Its just not polished to have numbers look the way they do out the box if you plan on showcasing a value that is like gold or money.

  • I want the player to see the gold he or she collects as currency instead of just lines of number with no comma between the digits. Is there any plugins that do this?

  • Try Construct 3

  • Im going to take all of this into account,I really want to make something that feels cool.

Has anyone tried to use pathfinding for touch? MoveTo touch type of controls inside of a platformer? My game has sandbox elements but not like terraria or minecraft. The landscapes are not destructible so i feel like i am open to do more.

  • Triforce what would you do for walking? thanks for your feedback aswell, Im sure not only me but alot of people now and in the future will love to have this information.

  • Whats up everyone, I cant sleep so im up coding just as always so i would love to ask a question to everyone!

im trying to gain feedback on the best way to control a platform game with no on screen controls. I want to make my character jump and perform basic platform abilities but i dont want to clutter the screen.

Can i get some good feedback of what everyone prefers. any and all feedback is welcome.

  • signaljacker thank you for the feedback! i will test out a few with bullet and see how it feels. I like the gravity approach but it seemed i just needed to tweak the settings. I have it looking somewhat appealing at the moment so i will move on to my next task. Thank you guys for your responses.

  • how would i go about making an object with physics pin to a specific sprite who has a function to pick up the object and carry it off?

Im having issues using pin and physics together and from what im seeing it has always been messy when used with each other.

I have a bee enemy that i want to swoop down and grab an object that has physics what would be the best way to go about this?

In my mind the pin was the best option.

  • R0J0hound im actually using that method right now but i must need to tweak and play with the settings alittle more. Im not really liking the outcome of how its looking right now.

  • TELLES0808 would litetween work? im using it alot throughout the project and it would be cool if it could work as that kind of effect.

  • whats up everyone im trying to learn how to make my loot that drops from my monsters when killed look more appealing.

Im using physics on my items to give them a nice look when dropping from the enemy but it just does not look right. Ive seen so many AAA games with nice loot dropping but i cant seem to remake it.

what im aiming for is something similar to Terraria and i feel like im not getting the settings right for the gravity....ect.

Does anyone know how to make this happen in a very smooth way? In basic terms all im trying to complete is making my enemy item drops look cool, Ive seen plenty of threads talking about how to code the actual drop but none talking about adding physics to the drops that spawn.

  • xDelta7 i know how you might feel about arrays. They are hard to grasp at first, I have been using construct for awhile and still dont know everything about them.

As a game developer you should atleast try to learn them in your spare time since it will undoubtedly save you time doing inventory systems , World generation and much more.

You dont have to use the tutorial i posted but it will give you the proper place to start when you are ready.

Good luck with your project keep us all posted!

  • blackhornet i cant thank you enough for helping me, That one line of code was exactly what i needed to be shown how to do. loopindex("y")-1 i would of never figured that out because in my mind the syntax was different

    This has made my year!

You really helped me alot with just one line of code. This helps me wrap my head around what i was actually doing wrong.

and for you to confirm that i was atleast headed in the right direction gives me some hope.

    Thank you blackhornet LaDestitute R0J0hound
