  • Hi again everyone,

So I've done a little research into the error code above (Error Code: 0x02000148), and it seems that other people have run into the same error code when trying to launch other "unauthorized" or unsigned applications / programs on newer Mac OSs. As I mentioned before, even when I try to bypass the security settings to open the game, I still run into the same error message.

Has anyone been able to release a working build of their game on Mac (on Catalina OS) without signing the application? Were there any particular steps you had to take?

If not, does that mean I will have to pay for a Mac developer license to be able to sign the application?

  • Hi everyone!

I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with an issue I'm having exporting my game as a Desktop NW.JS file to Mac. Essentially, when I download the ZIP folder to my Macbook, unzip the folder, and attempt to open the file by right-clicking and giving my computer permission to open the file, I'm given an error message stating that "GAME TITLE quite unexpectedly" along with the following error report...

As someone who is completely unversed in coding, I'm not sure what to do with that information! I've looked over past topics pertaining to Mac-related issues, which mostly seem to stem from issues with security and permissions (which I do not believe is the problem), notarization (which I do not think is necessary, but I could be wrong), or from quirks inherent to Construct 2 (and I am using Construct 3).

Could it be related to the export settings I'm using? I am just using the standards options, for what it's worth.

Has anyone else run into similar issues, or does anyone know where this problem might be stemming from? Any help or advice or expertise you could lend would be hugely appreciated! Thanks so much.

  • Good point! Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Hey guys,

I'm currently working on a PC/Mac version of a Construct 2 game I recently released for Wii U (Collateral Thinking), and I'm wondering if you guys might be able to help me out with something!

So my game has a two-player mode, and I would like for it to include a two-player on one keyboard control scheme (in addition to gamepads). It's a fairly simple platformer, so it's just movement, jumping, and an attack button to worry about! The thing is I don't play a lot of platformers on PC/Mac, so I'm not sure if there's an "accepted" control scheme or how games would approach multiplayer using the keyboard.

Right now here's how I have it laid out...

    Player One:

    Movement - Arrow Keys

    Jumping - J

    Attack - K

    Player Two:

    Movement - WASD

    Jumping - B

    Attack - V

I figured it made sense to keep the controls the same for Player One if they're playing single-player or multiplayer, but that means that the controls could feel a little cramped. Do you guys have any suggestions or experience with this kind of thing? Any help or feedback you guys could provide would be amazing!

  • Try Construct 3

  • Oh, I forgot to mention that in many instances I am needing to save or retrieve the information from multiple global variables at a time! For instance, at a given checkpoint I need to save "Character A Level Progress", "Character A Score", and "Character B Unlocked". I'm not sure if that changes anything or makes things more difficult!

    Again, thanks for your time!

  • Hi guys! So the game I'm building relies pretty heavily on global variables for a number of tasks, such as changing playable characters, tracking progression through the levels for each individual character, and saving the high scores for each character as well.

The variables work perfectly, but I'm wanting to use Local Storage to save them and I'm finding it incredibly complicated and fiddly! Can anyone help me find a simple solution that can be used to save and retrieve the assorted global variables? I would be incredibly grateful, thank you in advance!

  • Hi there everyone,

I've just tried exporting an early build of my game to Mac and Windows. The application opens quickly and seems to be running fine on the Mac, but when it doesn't seem to be registering any input (it uses keyboard controls). It is running perfectly on Windows so far using the same NW.js exported build.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue or could maybe help me out? Thanks so much!
