• Not at all!

    I still use Classic because I don't see very many new features with C2 just yet. Even when C2 does start offering many new features, I'll probably stick with Classic. That is, until there is a feature in 2 that is a must-have for game development. I see no reason to invest in something I can get totally for free with Classic, and even still sell commercially w/ it.

    Not to say I don't appreciate and support the devs, but this is business, after all. When more features are added, I will no doubt buy the standard license for 2.

  • Nice song in the video. I don't know much of Lynrd Skynrd, but I like that song.

    To create a game using a grid, simply create a new game, then go the Layout tab and click on 'Toggle Grid'. Right beside it are two options to snap the grid according to what it is your trying to do.

    You can also edit the vertical and horizontal sizes of the grid by clicking the 'Edit Grid' button right above the 'snap-to' options.

    For a game like Geometry Wars though, I wouldn't select the snap-to options because they could possibly restrict movement of objects if your trying to move that quickly.

  • You can do this by grouping objects using Families. SciDave does a great job explaining how to use Families in his Mikey's Adventure tutorial, which can be found here:

    It's the tutorial I'm currently reading. He also talks about the integral parts of any game, including HUDs and events, among other things.

    If you mean see a group of objects highlighted or something similar while on a particular layout, I'm not sure there is something like that just yet. People correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Here are my favorite games:

                              Robopon(GBC):

    My first game ever. Sadly, I traded it away for a couple Poke'mon cards back in the day...

                          Animal Crossing(GCN):

    My cousin introduced me to this game when it first came out and we played it for days on end. We watched eachother play and waited for our turn. I loved the anticipation, and the competition we set for one another(who could pay their house off the first).

                          LoZ: Windwaker(GCN):

    This game was is still my favorite game ever. I loved the cell-shading and the puzzle solving. The story was excellent and the sailing and adventuring was very fun; you never knew what you would find next! Of course, I was extremely happy when I beat a particular part of the game(I was young, after all, lol). I did have to get a guide to beat the game though.

                        Poke'mon Gold/Silver(GBC):

    These games were the pinnacle of my childhood. I spent hundreds of hours playing them both(even though they were the same). They were the best Poke'mon games ever, IMO. They remind me of happier times, and I still play them every now and then.

                       Alice: Madness Returns(PC):

    This came out just recently. I always loved the theme of playing a character who was in an asylum(the psychotic aspect was interesting to me on how it affected the gameplay). Plus, it was the first game in a long time to actually disturb me(I won't spoil anything, but chapter 2 freaked me out for some reason). The amount of detail is excellent and you get the first Alice for free.

    Of course, Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, the GTA series and many more contribute to my favorites, but I picked the ones I had a lot of memories with(except Alice).

  • Thanks very much , you guys!

  • Hello Arima. Unfortunately, all the links on that page redirect you to this new forum, still w/o the links(at least for me, anyway).

    I hope they weren't accidentally deleted!

  • I thought I was posting in the 'Introduce Yourself' thread...I'm sorry about that.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Hey guys I was wondering through some of the tuts and I found the some of the links didn't contain the hyperlinks necessary to view the tuts.

    Is this because Construct is still relatively young and the site is still getting situated?

    Anyways, here are some examples of the missing hyperlinks:

    First Example

    Second Example

    Third Example

    There are some more, but I didn't want to crowd the whole post.

    Also, whenever I try to preview my post in these forums, I get a message telling me that there is nothing to preview. I don't know if it's only my computer or what, but I have JS enabled as well as Flash and use Firefox 5.0.

    The tutorials are great and I would like to thank Jamesx for grouping them all up in one thread!

  • I discovered Construct a couple days ago and have been reading scidave's tutorial(Mikey's Adventure).

    I first got into games when I was a tween with my older cousins, and since then never stopped. My first game was Robopon for the Game Boy Color and then came along a little N64 with Hey! You Pikachu.

    I've been studying computer languages for two years now hoping to design games, but was getting disenchanted with the whole idea of doing it myself. Then I found this great program and now I am re-inspired!

        I just recently turned 19 in June and together with my current employer and local pastor, we are helping poverty-stricken youths recover and make something of themselves. We help people who wish to get out of gangs and those who need jobs as well. So far, we've gotten 2 dozen people and have done gotten people back in school, help some get into the Navy and even got one a new car!

    Now with Construct and what I learned from programming, I wish to teach these youths game design so they can finally express themselves in a nonviolent manner. Don't stop Scirra devs--ever! You are doing great!
