PSI's Forum Posts

  • Thank you very much, "Psi" is basically a beat 'em up about a woman with psionic (mental) powers in a future world infested with zombies and killer machines. Here is a picture example of the basic layout (I am using test characters right now):

As I said, I want to make touch controls and I'd like to have a virtual joystick and 3 separate attack buttons--one to be used for her basic attack (of which there are 2 options) and the other 2 would be from her store of abilities of which there would be more or less, depending on how far the player has progressed in the game. Some of her skills would be offensive, range attacks and some would be defensive. I would like the player to, at least, be able to swap out skills between levels or maybe even on the fly so I, of course, don't know how to do any of that yet.

Once again, thanks for your help.

  • In my game, "Psi," my player has a basic attack and, by the end, about 10 different skills available. I am wanting to have three power levels for each skill that the player selectively levels up. I am also wanting three selectable attack buttons that the player can assign whichever powers they want to. Do I need to separate all of these things I want to do or can I address all of them at once? What is the best way to handle powers that get leveled up selectively? Thank you!

  • So, my game is a variation on a beat 'em up. My player character has 8 direction movement so I was able to make it switch directions using info from the above video and a keyboard event pretty easily. Now I am trying to make my enemy characters do the same. They use bullet movement (instead of platform which will let you compare movement on the vector.x) so I haven't found out how to turn their sprites around yet, as they move and follow the player.

  • Thanks Mike. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Thanks for responding. I look under the options in the event menu for my spriter object and don't see "set width" either. Am I looking in the wrong place?

  • I'd like to thank all of the people who check this forum and answer questions. I hope to be able to pay it forward some day and help some other newb out once I actually know something!

  • Any Spriter experts out there?

  • How does one "set mirrored" with Spriter objects. That isn't an option, when I select the scml object itself but it is an option for the family of images for the character, however, this doesn't flip the character when it's moving the other way in the game.

  • Yes, excellent!

  • Yes, thanks blackhornet!

  • Awesome! I like the retro feel and unusual melody. I look forward to hearing more from you.

  • In my game, "Psi," I now am able to make the zombies chase the mutant (player in this example) around the screen. As the sprites move, how do you keep them in the proper z order that changes as they move?

  • A little more info: the recording software was Audacity. All sounds on this track were bass played into a loop pedal.

  • I finished the first track for my game in progress, "Psi." I'm going to release the soundtrack as well. This track is dark and heavy in parts but what would you expect from a game about a woman with psionic (mental) powers vs a horde of zombies and killer machines?! Please enjoy and share your own sonic creations! Criticisms or audio tips are also welcome. Thanks!
