  • Thank you all for your great help and comments, much appreciated.

I hope you won't be offended but I've now bought Fusion 2.5 (mainly due to the fact its currently 85% off on the steam sale) thanks anyway for all your help, perhaps one day I will buy Construct 2

Why not download the free version and try before you buy?

Thats a good idea but ideally I don't want to spend a few weeks testing something, I'd rather get feedback off people and buy or not buy right now. just the way I am.

1: Yes, you can, but if you understand things like variables, if then else statements, for loops and arrays, it will make things easier and allow you to make more complex games. You don't need to know those things for your first few games though.

2: Sure you can. If you do happen to need maths at some point, just ask on the forums and someone will more than likely help you out.

3: Construct 2 uses NW.js to create games that run on windows with an .exe

4: I'd suggest looking into the tutorials on here first, along with the included examples and the manual. Scirra also post on Facebook about useful videos and recently posted about about making Construct 2 games.

5: Yes, you an make an RPG. Lot's of different types of games have been made with Construct 2 - RPGs, RTS, shmups, platformers, puzzlers, etc. Check some of them out Don't forget to try the free version of Construct 2 first to see how it works.

Thank you for your help, mostly good news there for sure, however I didn't know what nw.js was so I looked into it and it seems its not what I need. What I'd like is to create a game and export to a single exe file, not a folder full of misc files and dll files. just one single exe that I can give to friends to try.

Thanks muchly though, your answers helped a lot.

  • Greetings Construct 2 community, I am currently looking at buying game creation software for my own personal use for myself and games for friends/family.

After a week of research I have my final choice down to two packages, Clickteam Fusion 2.5 or Scirra Construct 2. If you would answer some questions I have, it would help my final decision.

1: can I truly create a game with ^NO^ programming whatsoever?

2: can someone who pretty much sucked at school and mathamatics create games? (for example, like Jetpack Joyride)

3: can I output native windows code in a single .exe file?

4: Would you recommend I buy a book to learn it, or pay for an online course?

5: is it viable to create a roleplaying game with this software? (no, I'm not silly enough to expect to make a new Skyrim, but something like the old bards tale games?)

    Thank you
