Open up your event sheet tab and add event..

To be able to work with keyboard events you should first add a keyboard object to your project..

It might be of use if you don't know about event sheets and/or events to follow a few tutorials from the tutorial-section of this page to get the hang of things..

Yes i'd done that haha, but nothing else after selecting keyboard stands out.

I added a Keyboard. I know about event sheets system, characters, ticks and so on. Not perfect but I get the idea, same sorta system Gamesalad uses so I picked that up fairly quickly.

I will search for "This all could be found reading the manual entry for 8-Direction Behavior and its followup link Behavior Reference - Custom movement." Thanks everyone!

  • So it uses the resized version? perfect! Thanks.

  • I've used the 8 Directional movement from the behaviors options, but who honestly uses arrows anymore lol...

I can see you can change the max speed and such for it, but nothing else. Is there a way to edit it further? Or do I have to make the 8 Directional movement from scratch?

I'm sure this question must have been asked before, but I did a couple searches and found nothing.

  • NOOB ALERT. Long time supporter, but still learning the basics.

I've imported some images for my game, however they are HUGE. So i've resized them in C2.

When I submit the game would the size change be incorporated or will C2 games run as the original size and use the Ram/storage of the bigger image instead of the resized one?

Do I need to resize it in photoshop then put it back into C2?

I plan on having this game very high on animations.

Also - I set a tiled background and the Tiles are huge as well. Is there a way to resize the Tiled background so it's not so close up?

Thanks in advance, hope you're all having a lovely day. ^_^

  • Hello! Would you make a review for Jim the Redskin? This game was made with Construct 2.

I wish you good luck with your chanell!

I will add it to the consideration list!

Gave it a quick go. Level 5 is very hard lol.

Also I would suggest adding something that points out that the scroll bar is for speed. I thought it was for sound or something. Also if you make it Red, or stand out more that would be good as it is a crucial feature for the game. I think using a "fastforward" symbol instead of a plus would help, plus maybe a jump animation.

    Good stuff!

    >

What do you mean by plugin?

It's just a capx, a layout with events..

    LOL my bad. Sorry all.

  • I tried the plugin, but when I boot up C2 it says it's unable to load the plugin/behavior.

Tried both the plugin and behavior folder.

  • autoFraming.capx

If you want unlimited zoom out you just have to toggle off the 2 first action (those with the clamp()) and set the unbounded scrolling to yes.

Oh and the two squares have a drag&drop behavior

And if you choose the limited zoom, it works better if the layout ratio is the same as the window ratio (although I could make it work for any ratio, by recalculating the clamping values using this ratio etc etc etc...)

Did anyone try this? I'm surprised no one seemed to respond. If it's a plugin that can adjust the zoom then that's perfect isn't it?

  • Hey everyone! (Edit: Please Subscribe to the YouTube Channel)

I'm the facebook admin of http://www.facebook.com/GamerMountain

The page currently has over 80,000 likes. It use to have over 100,000! But I made some bad choices and we lost a lot of support.

But I want to use the page properly now and help it grow!

Initially I was going to create a new YouTube channel called "Construct Reviews" or "Construct Games" However, I have a YouTube channel called GAMER MOUNTAIN which you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPeHWJ ... pBGvKSU6hQ

I'm going to start using that for Video reviews and I want to do a lot of reviews for Construct users who have clearly put a lot of effort and polish into their games.

However, i'm very big on custom URLs and to get one on YouTube now you have to have 500 subscribers. I'm currently battling with Twitter to get the Gamer Mountain username/login made available for me as it's been taken by an unused suspended account.

However, I will be start reviews on the YouTube channel regardless of Subscribers, I just want to make sure i'm not branding for the wrong name! haha.

Thank you so much for the support and I look forward to supporting as many of you as I can. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

  • Thanks RayKi !

I did try rotating the character a few times. I must have missed the facing right rotation by mistake.

    Adding art at the end?

Interesting. I'm very visually orientated so I like seeing it develop as I go.

  • Hey everyone

Just playing around with C2 some more trying to learn the ins and outs.

I tried searching this but couldn't find it so i'm sorry if it is a double post.

But my sprite keeps looking in the wrong direction when I move him in any direction.

    How do I fix this?

Also, can you change the sprites image after programming it with many actions? Not sure how to do that.

Thank you so much for your help!

  • Thanks that's awesome.

    Thanks Kyatric as well!

My next thought on the Shadows will be in they can be molded around taller objects that their shadows shouldn't cover. I'm guessing shadows can be matched with collisions to stop that issue so that's sweet.

What about rain? Does anyone have any experience with being able to make it look like it's pouring down without effecting the ram much?

Such wonderful software. I will be on this all night. lol

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • First things first.

Hi!!! Long time C2 lover but pretty quiet on here.

I'm going to commit more time to it and learn it properly now. Bought a 2k PC to focus on it!

Anyway. I want to make a Top Down game (like the one in the very first beginner tutorial with the player, monster, bullet and explosion.)

But kind of like an outdoor survival game.

So I want to know are there shadow/lighting effects available in C2?

    Are there water effects?

I really want the game to look alive and immerse people into it's world.

    • Also side note. Scirra claims that their pre loaded functions in the tool are as good as any major game (like 8 Directional movement etc) Is there a way to tweak these functions without ruining them?

P.S I suck with forums so i'm sorry if this is in the wrong place or something like that...

I want to start a Game progress thread to so if someone could suggest a nice place for me to start that one up when it's get going that would be lovely.

P.S the Game will be for PC and I want to have millions of animations for it haha.

    Thanks!

    Brian

  • We don't pay for likes, but all good. :)

I guess that's why we've started the thread though because we're looking for help so we can finish our projects and work on more lol.

    Sure.
