  • I am currently working on a project and am looking to get the users real-world location from their mobile phone. I have searched through the site and forums but haven't found anyone else trying this, and before I dive in and start developing a plugin to see if it could be done I wanted to check here and see if it could, in fact, be done.

I am currently using PhoneGap to create my mobile applications, and understand it would require extra permissions at installation time, but my question is would Construct2 allow me to do this? Can I get some best practices or thoughts that would help me along in my process? Thanks.

The word I was looking for was Geolocation. I am also wanting the game to start based upon when a user enters a specific Geolocation. Is this feasible, and would mobile devices allow me to do this?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Something I was working on for awhile:

    Tooof - The Mighty Dragon

  • Have you set the Behavior of your inventory screen to Anchor? Then you can set it in the window where you need it and it will stay (relatively) stable and usable.

  • I didn't really want to read through 9 pages of responses to see if it had been mentioned yet, but if you are planning an online multiplayer built in option, are you considering the WebRTC approach? I almost think P2P browser gaming will be capable through it, though it is built more for video and audio transfer than smaller files, it should still be much better than bouncing back and forth from the server all day.

  • Hiya,

My name is Dane, and I run Nochek Solutions. I have been playing video games since the industry started making good ones, and even continued to play after they stopped. Several years ago I started learning to program, and several languages later I decided I could finally begin to make the things I always wanted.

And then I realized that I didn't want to code it all from scratch :p

I looked around at HTML5-centric game makers, considering a few, when I stumbled upon Construct 2. It wasn't so much the features (I could think of a ton more I'd like) or the helpful reminders (I just want to set a variable to something that doesn't exist yet. I promise I'll make it later!) but the existence of a non-time limited demo version, that for the majority of purposes is a full on game creator.

Not only did I try out the free version for a few weeks, I also had my 11 year old nephew download it and start playing with it. He loves games, and now that he knows how to cut up sprites he is going to be belting out titles by the time hes 12.

Needless to say, I was so impressed by the relatively simple and expedient licensing system, and that is why I purchased Construct 2. That, and I've already created 4 levels of Tooof, it'd be a shame to let it go to waste now

  • Go into your Edit Animations panel, choose the particular animations that are giving you problems, and use the Rotate 90 Degrees button until it's set up right.

Depending on how your sprite sheet was laid out and how many directions you worked with/cut into, you'll need to rotate up to 2 clicks on some sprites, but only once on the other ones.
