  • pretty unfortunate considering how easy PGB makes the process (compared to cordova CLI and xcode).

  • Ashley I will do a build when I get home later today. I should note that during the course of my testing back in January I would receive the permission prompt every time on initial run, without fail. I deleted the app data from the test iOS device, rebuilt, and uploaded the app file at least 40-50 individual times during this period, so if you are noticing that the prompt is no longer appearing on the initial run, that is potentially good news.

  • Good to see that this is getting some discussion and making some progress (we know it's related to the Touch object now).

I haven't worked on this issue in nearly 5 months but I did have some dialogue with Petra over at PGB and did some of my own testing. None of it was conclusive. I was able to build with Cordova CLI which further supports the theory that it is an issue with how PGB is handling the touch object.

    Keep me posted. Thanks all.

  • Ashley can confirm that PGB hides the status bar when you export via Cordova and upload to PGB. However PGB has its own issue where you get permission requests for geolocation even if that was left unchecked during export.

  • Try Construct 3

  • matrixreal how many "every tick" events would you say is too many when working with iOS 8.0+? Are there any things I should avoid putting in every tick that might not be obvious?

  • Thanks much for the help. After a few hours sinking into the documentation and fiddling around in my virtual mac via Macincloud.com, I was able to build via Cordova, then export through Xcode without the geolocation bug, yay!

Ashley is this indicative of a possible bug in the Cordova export option in Construct 2?

  • Hi all,

I've wanted to make games ever since I was a kid, and now it's possible for a dummy like me to do so, with Construct 2! I have a lot of embarrassing questions, so I'm sure I'll be asking them soon enough.

  • Just a quick question - what kinds of experiences have you had when using semi-transparent sprites in mobile apps? Do they make mobile performance worse? Or is there little difference to completely opaque and transparent sprites?

On a related note, do you think around 40 objects being constantly created and destroyed is too many for most mobile platforms?

  • How easy was using Cordova CLI? I am only familiar with PhoneGap Build, which seems extremely pain-free compared to any actual coding. With CLI, would I actually need to write a fair share of code to build? I'm very much a newbie in the back-end process of going from Construct 2 to an actual app.

  • did anyone ever find a solution to this?

  • I'm having an issue with an infinite vertical jumper, where when the player taps the screen, the character is sent 1200 pixels into the -y vector using the platform vector action. However, occasionally the character appears to not be sent the whole 1200 pixels, and the jump appears to be shorter than its supposed to. Wondering if this is somehow related to your topic - maybe there's a minor lag spike that negates some of the pixels the character is supposed to travel, making the jump shorter than its supposed to, etc.

Wondering if making the amount of pixels sent in the y vector should be 1200*dt, but I was under the impression platform behaviors were already dt.

Anyway, sorry for hijacking your post. I felt this was somehow relative to yours and I didn't want to create a new post.

  • Hi there,

I'm in the process of planning out the back end of my game development for iOS. I do not currently have any planned advertisements or IAPs in my game. Is it required that I export to Cordova before using PhoneGap to publish? I have been doing some research, but the number of options for taking your HTML5 game to an app are a bit overwhelming. Any help is appreciated, as I am still very much a newbie.
