  • Wow, looks amazing! Dig the artwork and looks fun to play. Good work!

  • Thanks! Will try that

    Made a small tank clone:

Use the WASD keys to move your tank and the mouse to aim and shoot. Bullets can bounce up to three times before disappearing unless they hit something "fragile" on the way

I have some trouble getting good collision detection going. If someone have suggestions I am all ears! Both tank collision and calculating bullet bouncing. Both are really buggy at the moment.

    The capx for the interested:

    Add:

Just wanted to show off one more use for chrisbrobs code (Thank you!).

Quite simple and smooth platform example:

  • Try Construct 3

  • Hey that's pretty cool.

    Here's a very basic implementation:

You might recognize this game idea (click the mouse)

Just needs a cave generator. Also, moon lander anyone?

  • Don't feel forced to blog. Quality over quantity

  • Server software hosting (+ client management) could be a killer feature but sounds seriously hard to pull off well and secure. Hats off if you find a way to do it

  • It's a good idea, but without a "game section" type of functionality I have hard to see what the use for it would be. Maybe focus on it later on?

  • First one, might be a bit ambitious but super nice:

    1. A searchable list of plugins (look at how the Firefox project did it). I would love to see this included in the actual program as well with automatic install but great to have it on the web page as well to "show off"

    2. Simple download. The download button should stand out more in my humble opinion since if not the main feature of the page at least one of them. When clicked the download page should basically tell you exactly what to do from when you click the download link to when you enter the program + give you links to "getting started / first time user" tutorials. This to show new potential customers how easy it really is. Needed if this is to become a paid application. It would also be nice to be able to easily access a list of previous releases.

    3. Large fonts. With tutorials and general help sections readability becomes important. Design for easy reading. Big fonts but not too big.

  • [quote:30h1jfze]r seem to be the "speed" of the ball

Actually I think it's the radius.

    Ah of course. Makes sense

  • r seem to be the "speed" of the ball

    ball.x += ball.vx is the same as typing ball.x = ball.x + ball.vx. I've never done this with duplication but I assume it's the same there.

"The abs() method returns the absolute value of a number."

    Math.abs(7.25) = 7.25

    Math.abs(-7.25) = 7.25

    Math.abs(null) = 0

    Math.abs("Hello") = NaN

    Math.abs(7.25-10) = 2.75

  • Sounds like such server could be done if someone created a node.js (+ maybe socket.io) exporter. Of course the server would need to have necessary node.js components installed. It would then be nice with an additional network component for the clients.

I would encourage anyone who would take the time to do this

  • Speaking of error my project file turned corrupt yesterday. All I did was copying all the contents of one layout onto another. What happened was that everything ended up as gray blobs that I could not delete so I restarted scirra. Now it says the file is corrupt but that I potentially could edit the file by hand (it mentions a file url that does not exist on my drive). Tried opening the capx but it's not really readable. Maybe I misunderstood the dialogue?

  • Made this (very short):

http://www.lionsinvests.com/game/ (Around 0.5 MB in size)

There are sounds (thanks to that plugin from this forum) but they are lagging a bit. Haven't looked into that

The collision detection is made of two sprites (Wall and floor) that are set to invisible.

The waffle movement use a boolean (true=up, false=down) that toggles every 0.1 sec (if I remember it correctly). If up, move waffle -1

You're not supposed to touch the red stuff (it was quickly put in there so that the player could die in some way so the collision boxes are really bad)

  • Sweet Keep them updates pouring in!

  • First of all, thanks for an excellent product so far!

I for one chose Scirra JUST BECAUSE it was html5 capable. Although it lacks certain features I have been able to create what I wanted so far with a bit of creativity (which there is a lot of room for!).

Now, what I wonder is if it is possible to load external data resources in some way. For HTML5 games json is an excellent format to pass data from the server and I am now looking for a way to just this. Maybe a new plugin is the way to go, or have someone else already done this?
