  • Hi Guys,

Im working on a 2d side scroller game. Im trying to make it somewhat 3D as the player can walk up and down, as well as side to side. I cant figure out how to manage the z order of all of the objects and enemies at run time. I want the the player to be in front of an enemy if his y position is greater than the enemies y, and i want all of the enemies to do the same thing with each other and the background objects. Is their a way to manage this that wouldn't crush the framerate? I tried using families and I just cant seem to get it to work. Thank you for any help!

Hey thank you! Glad you enjoyed it so far!

  • I was just playing with a sample and it seems fairly accurate. Try pulling everything out except a couple test items and see if they work.

I have attached the test I did.

Hey thanks for the input! I actually just updated the version of Construct I was using, and turned Pixel Rounding on, and that seemed to fix it up. Not sure if it was the pixel rounding, or if something was a little wonky with the unstable version i was using. Thanks again!

  • Hello,

I'm having an issue with the collision detection using the physics behavior. I have circle sprites trimmed all the way down so there is no transparency outside of the circle. I have the collision mask set to circle on all of the objects involved. The problem is that I have moving physics objects, and they seem to trigger the on collision with actions about 5 pixels or so early. It triggers the event, but the objects continue moving toward each other, and then they bounce off. Any Idea what could be causing this? Accuracy is a huge part of this game, so its really throwing a wrench in my plans.

    Thank you

  • I sure do like the look and feel of this.

Hey thank you very much!! Glad you liked it!

  • Here is a look at the update coming out soon. Also, 8 Bit will be coming to android when I get to a full release!

  • Good game. Difficulty is a bit steep.

Controls are good. Art style is very nice but maybe overuse of grainy filters and such.

Hi thank you, Ive messed with the look of the game a bit since that demo was posted, Im posting a video of the new look (added a slight 3d effect to the background, toned down the grain etc) As or the difficulty, that was intentional, its meant to be a precision platformer along the lines of Super Meat Boy and other games of that style. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Really compelling gameplay. I just kept wanting to see what the next room was, and it was really hard to put down!

I do wish that I could fast forward the death sequence, seeing how I would die quickly, and sometimes in rapid succession, waiting out the (really cool!) screen FX eventually became frustrating.

Fantastic style, I'm probably going to play this at work tomorrow.

Hi, Im, working on a new version that should be up fairly soon. It significantly speeds up the death sequence. Ill be posting a video here shortly, and hope to update the game in a day or so.

  • Very clean. I love the professional look
