  • Hey! Total beginner's question, I know. I have an object and I want it to move forward when clicking somewhere. I added the action "move forward 250 pixels", however, the object just appears at this position. I actally want it to MOVE there in the sense of sliding.

    Thank you already!!

  • Hi everyone!

Again a very easy beginner's question!

I have 2 layouts, one with a start button. The game is about surviving as long as possible. So every second 1 is added the score. When the player collides with an object, the layout changes, because you have to start again from the beginning. Problem is: You should see the score you reached on this "start" layout. But it is only visibile in the layout where the current game runs.

It is frustrating, because I was able to do it some time ago and I forgot how it worked...

    Thanks already for your answers!

  • Thank you!! But you need to copy it instead of cloning. I used this destroy sprite at the end of the layout and worked with sine behavior instead of bullet. Your ideas helped me a lot! In case you want to check the latest version: https://www.scirra.com/arcade/adventure ... 14457?cp=3

  • Hi! I probably can't see the forest due to all the trees (german saying). In my platform game I want clouds to appear and move constantly to the right. I already positioned 8 clouds (copies of the first one) and after they've moved let's say 500 pixels a new cloud is meant to appear where the first one started. So I guess it has something to do with spawning, instances variables, creating objects, comparing X and the like. But I just don't know what to do. Unfortunately the beginner's guide didn't help...

    Thank you already!

  • 99Instances2Go wow, that looks amazing and it seems as if you haven't done much! Thanks for the file!

MPPlantOfficial good idea with the scroll to function. I thought maybe there was some kind of "official" way to do it, I mean when you organize your layout and stuff before you even start designing the rest. But that solution is good!

  • What a pitty that there's still no answer, I have the same question...

  • I actually did manage to apply your advices and it really is logical, you're right. I only did the ghost shooter and platform tutorial, should do asteroid and flappy bird clone, too thanks! What I didn't get til now is this instance variable thing, but I will work myself through the manual first. I kind of struggle with the word instance, I know it exists in German, too, but even there I don't know what it means!

  • Thanks and jeffige, I will try it now. Looks a bit complex at fist sight, we'll see . And I totally agree with Wicked Soft!

  • Hi! First, I think the drawings are great. Especially level1 looks sooo realistic!

My first thought when I saw the puzzling process was: NOOOO way I can do this. BUT, it was actually quite doable. It took me 5 minutes, which is ok.

I think it's a cool idea to combine both of your hobbies. You seem to make a good team .

I don't think you need instructions, but a small version of the picture would be nice, sometimes I almost felt lost within the puzzle. Or maybe you could add the option to take a look at the result for a moment and then go on.

    Thumps up!

  • It really makes one want to play it!! Since I'm not familiar with bigger projects, I need to ask these questions: Does your canvas has got a limit? When I read something about 9 towns and a water based temple, I wonder if your world has any limitations! And also I wonder with which program you get to design everything. This pixel style is probably not done with windows paint .

By the way, are your children allowed to test the game? Must be cool to have their opinion!

  • Hi!

The very first version of my game is finished and I would like to include the possibility of winning. There are 3 starboxes in the game (they are copies and all belong to the same sprite object) and as soon as all of them were found, the player wins (text appears "You won!" and redirecting to menu).

Also, I would like to show the score in the menu, which is another layout. How can I connect the score to the other layout and show the result at the end?

    Thank you for helping me!

    Maschka

btw, it's called Tom Tiger: Where is the O? and you find the "demo version" in the section "adventure games".

  • Is that something they say in the advertisement?

  • ok, update: The advice with the detector was the best solution. It's more precise now!

  • Jipii! To be honest, I don't really understand the difference between sitting on top and colliding with, but it works! No I try to add some animation to the box before it disappears.

Vielen Dank also for the other options, which I'll keep in mind!

  • Haha funny

I expected the graphics to be worse. I looks pretty cool, I think. The sound and music is good, too.

My main problem in the beginning was that I didn't get who I was. Maybe the zombies' and the player's appearance could differ a bit more. Also I think it gets boring quite soon, because there's not much happening. Why don't increase difficulty in more ways than just a higher number of zombies? Let the trucks drive on the other side of the road, as well. And it would fit your topic if the zombies spewed blood or something. Maybe you could give the player a second chance, so when a zombie bites you, you loose some blood, but you can go on. (maybe you become slower).

Btw, what program did you use for the graphics?

    Kind regards,

    Maschka

P.s.: My highscore is 63 seconds, which I'm very proud of They were so many...
