  • I think it's an object picking problem. I fixed it by offloading the object creation to a function. Here's the modified CAP showing the changes:

    Modified Infinite Scrolling

EDIT: Just incase you've already downloaded this, you'll want to download it again. I accidentally messed something up in the first one.

  • Congrats, man!

  • There have also been issues with patent's on the format, not a good idea for an open source program.

The relevant patents expired back in 2003-2004, so the format is actually free for anybody to use now.

  • That looks really good, thomas. I like the black forground elements contrasted by the orange background.

Here's a screenshot from what is now the third rewrite of the game I mentioned on the first page.

  • I am posting this from my chair in front of the PC! Awesome!

    Truly astounding.

  • I don't think he ment an "Application" in that sense.

Blah, you are probably right. Anyways, the way I save/load my levels is using a list box object. Essentially, each piece has it's own line and the data for each piece is split up like this, separated by commas:

    ObjName, X, Y[/code:uonku4i1]

When I load it up in a list box I can simply use the box's "For each line" action to read through each line and have each piece created by name(ObjName). Of course, if you wanted to add more values for things like width, height, and angle it requires some special object picking to make sure the values are given to the correct object.

Should I create a Construct Application for this?

Probably not. A level builder will require the use of sprites which the application runtime doesn't support.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • im not in the who killed ashley list :'{

What are you talking about? You're the second name from the bottom.

At least I'm free from suspicion.

  • Yeah, so it's pretty sad when I'm having problems with my own plugin. Anyways, I think I might have uncovered a bug in Construct somewhere when using my plugin. The ZIP file below contains a CAP file with the bug and my plugin for those who don't have it.

    Some kind of bug

What you see is an IK arm I have set up. It can be moved around with the arrow keys. The problem is with the screen scrolling. Soon after the screen scrolls over, the bottom arm disappears, but once you move back it will reappear. If you turn off scrolling(on the blue square), everything works correctly, no matter where you move.

What's stranger is that the purple rectangle I have positioned to the bottom bone at the same angle will never disappear and stays where it should.

I honestly can't tell if this is a problem with my plugin or Construct. If anybody wants to look at the code to the plugin I can PM it to them.

  • The hotspots on the physics objects need to be in the middle for the collisions to work correctly. Essentially, the physics collision mask is at an offset from the actual sprites. I know Ashley mentioned that this was changed to where hotspot position didn't matter, but it seems it's not working anymore. You should submit a bug report.

  • Space explosion make awesome backgrounds.

  • I don't buy games that often, so I want them to last me at least a couple/three weeks playing around an hour a day. That, or something with insane replayability, like Crackdown. Dammit, I want to play that game again so bad.

  • Looks sweet. I see you've found a way to properly texture the ground. Just a guess, but I assume the ground has a mask effect, and there's a texture on the layer underneath?

  • I check this board whenever I'm stuck coding. It's a big productivity killer!

We need to have Rich IP ban Ashley.

  • I can't stand speech recognition. I can actually type faster than it can interpret anyways. That and it doesn't understand the word "dude".
