  • Hey there,

I like that, the graphics are real nice, and clean, excellent job.

  • I kinda like that, and it is a cool idea to have a game in a banner, I think...

  • I also noticed that you can grab the edge of the arrowed level and get up that way, edge grab or whatever you call it?

  • This may be a completely stupid answer, could it have anything to do with Firefox? as I run it in chrome and it it cannot reach the ledge, I do not have Firefox to try?

  • WOOHOOOOO :D

  • Thanks for that ramones, I will have a proper look at that later, I've been up for about 36 hours now, and my brain is fried, lol

  • Hi Yann,

As I said, I understand the concept of the clamp function, I have no idea how to implement it.

My .capx should be here, I have never used Dropbox before, I have just set it up so I can supply my .capx

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/lly5ck2zuglkiwq/HUDDemo.capx

If that doesn't work let me know and I will try to figure it out.

So, what you are looking at are actually four bars, the blue one on top is your Power bar, the little orange one is your Grenade bar, the red one to the left of that is your Bullet bar and the box in the top left corner is your Health bar. The health bar works differently from the others, as it goes upwards instead of across.

Don't worry about the Monsters doing weird things, I can sort them later, I am just worried about the bars not constraining to their parameters.

The pickups, are mostly obvious, one for each, Power, Grenade, Bullet and Health.

So if anyone want's to have a look at my .capx and let me know how, and or where I implement the clamp function I would be very thankful.

  • Hi all,

I am making a Powerbar for my game, and I followed Kiyoshi's tutorial:

    Make a Fancy Lifebar

I get it to work, except if the value of the bar goes into a negative number, then the bar runs outside it's container, if that makes sense?

On communicating with Kiyoshi, he mentioned the clamp function to constrain the values to within the parameters of the bar, and although I understand the concept, I do not have a clue in how to implement it.

    Can anyone help?

    Karl

  • Hi all,

Just thought I would post a quick message to say a BIG thank you for Construct 2.

I am not a programmer, well I did do a little Pascal about 15 years ago at local college.

So far I have gone through the beginners guide and done a little searching here on the forum, then started to do a similar game, but adding a few different features.

I have two enemy, although the first smaller enemy you cannot shoot, but if you move over it, you kill it and it spawns a larger enemy at a spawn point (still need to figure out how to get variable number of enemy from spawn point when triggered, and how to set the location of the spawn point to a random location)

You only have 30 rounds in your weapon at the start, but this can be increased or reloaded with ammo pickups. Similarly you have a set health, which decreases if in contact with main enemy, and can be replenished with health pickup, unless you hit 0 then it is game over.

One of the problems I am having at the moment, which is bugging me is I am trying to display ammo, and health using a text object, like in the end of the tutorial, but I only seem to be able to display one or the other. Do I need to have two text object? Display one string in one and the other in the other? How do I assign one string to one...

And yes I just figured that out, and got it working, sometimes you need to think things out vocally I suppose.

Anyway, Just wanted to say Thank You for all your hard work

    :D

  • This sounds like something I could use in my first game that I am planning, excellent...

    :D

  • oooohh treasure, my preety, lol

  • Hi all,

My name is Karl, I'm from the north of Scotland, a friend of mine sent me the link for the website the other day, and I downloaded Construct 2, I am really excited about the potential that it gives me to try writing some games. Although I have never written a game before, I am sure that over time I can get something together.

Anyway, I am sure I shall be posting on the forum from time to time when I get stuck, so thanks in advance for your help.

    :D
