You could always mess around with the mode 7 plugin.
Mode 7 was an effect the super nintendo had to render an image kind of like a pseudo 3d ground.

I'm thinking you should just make an invisible, long and thin sprite, make the origin something like "0, 3", have it set angle towards mouse.X and mouse.Y, and use overlap events for the different colors.

I'm trying to do something like the top down levels in contra 3, but I cant get the camera to rotate at a point. I played around with the rotating platformer thing, but didn't come up with anything usable.
