  • There really needs to be a function to paste things into the background (as in MMF). I saw there was a post about this before. But could it please be implemented. Its not effective to have throusands of objects. and there needs to be a way to make a background that is noticed as an object that can be created from a simple loop through an array. As was common practice in MMF.

    Pretty pretty please.

  • Yea fully the tanks wierd. I dont know its just got physics movement applied to it. and the platforms are just immovable objects. Thatd be a bug in physics movement Id assume.

The program didnt move the game to a new folder. thats where the update program assumes the old version is sitting, it clears out that folder and extracts the update.zip to it. However, because I didnt include the old version in the game it may look as though its just downloading the game and putting it in a different folder.

  • Hey all. I've just made a small example on making an update program with the download object.

    http://nonsensicle.googlepages.com/updateexample.zip

Try it out. The source is included. If you want to add it to your own site. All you need to updload are the update INI and the update ZIP files. Then re-name the variable WebApp to your sites root and off you go.

By the way, this example downloads the fixed version of my Quick Game. With the AI not shooting through walls and stuff. Plus the game is now pixel shader friendly I hope. So people with 5+ year old machines should be able to run it.

When the update is complete press OK to run the game.

I found some bugs while making this, in construct and in objects. So maybe Ashley may want to have a look through all the comments.

Id appreciate any relevant comments about the example and the game.

  • AM I right in thinking if I check 'Run without PS' in the application properties that will allow you to run the game?

  • Game, I've been making for the past 12 hours. Its hopefully going to be a remake of a game I was making in MMF 2 years ago, before MMF couldn't handel all the stuff. Please tell me what you think.

The Controls are W,S,A,D and Left Click to Shoot.

The controls may seem odd at first but they get easier to use.

Pressing D and then A makes you move left faster, and vice versa. This also applies to W and S.

I'm aware of issues such as the player can go through walls. I cant work out how to make him bounce off with custom movement without detectors.

  • Try Construct 3

  • While the previous fix worked. Its still not consistent for me trying to modify the properties of one sprite and that of all the sprites. Either there is something wrong with my loop. Or again I've missed some logic, but I cant work it out!

I want each instance of the sprite to load a different image, instead they all load image 16. However the loop does the ID variable correctly.

All the files are included in the following RAR.

    Whats going on? please assist.

  • cool beans. Thanks Gullen.

  • This issue is highlighted in big white letters on a pink background in the comments of the following CAP file!

What am I doing wrong? Have I missed some crucial piece of Construct logic?

  • Since I don't know if the bugs reporter is still up (and I cant be bothered checking). I'll post this here. After a significant portion of work, I cloned an object. However, the object original was replaced with the new object somehow. All the events relating to the original object were removed and a runtime error was then present due to empty event slots. Please fix this bug.

Also add in an auto backup as mentioned in someone else's topic. Each time the projects run or something. Ive re-done this game three times in the past 2 hours. Its getting really annoying.

And I'll chip in another request. While this may seem like a paradox, there needs to be a way to select an object based on its index (ID or something in construct) If I want to deactivate the glow effect of an object with multiple instances, the command turns them all off. There is no provision to select the index of the one I want. I Don't know how you'd implement it, a condition could be used I suspect. Maybe one exists that I haven't found, in that case please flag it to my attention.
