  • I know whenever a game swears, my wife makes me turn the volume down or makes me wait until the kids are asleep before I can play. <img src="smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Think about this:

Top grossing movies are seldom rated R in the US. If a movie says the F word about three times its a guaranteed R rating.

The video game standards are a bit backwards compared to movies. Movie ratings tolerate a number of violent scenes so long as gore and blood is kept down. Any war game with a slight pinch of blood when you kill someone in a video game seems to get it a Mature rating off the bat, which otherwise would have made a PG-13 movie.

  • Gotcha.

  • In some cases topics that have been moved still appear in the section they were originally created in, but when opened you can see they have in fact been moved.

I've seen this a few times now. Don't know if its an existing issue.

  • I think you will benefit at least reading through the manual at least once. Maybe try a few tutorials before jumping into making a clone.

  • Does this plugin just work with a webcam? Or can it save images to disk such as from a target section from a layout?

  • Ouya jobs page is also looking for people proficient in JavaScript and AJAX. I think Ouya will be trying to support it.

  • I wholeheartedly disagree with the assessment that the Ouya will be a flop. There is a market for retro games. Major companies have already signed on to develop games for Ouya or re-release classics. Bandai, Square Enix, Konami, and more

The Ouya is in the hardware manufacturing business. They will send a console and in 5 to 10 years likely release another if they system does will or die out. They are basically making a smart phone without a screen. Their development costs will likely be lower than most phone manufacturers.

On top of that you get a high res output for android games. According to the Ouya jobs page they are also seeking people that know HTML5, so they make include their own tweaks to Android to support HTML5.

  • I am definitely interested in developing for the Ouya. I'd imagine that if its running pure Android. All we would have to worry about is the Gamepad support.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Not sure if this is the right forum for this post... Do you have an actual game project you are needed help with?

  • I see you are using a custom Plugin in there "Push out solid". I am unable to open your project.

  • I have been playing with the idea of grabbing art work from open source software and wish to start a forum discussion on the topic as a informative.

First, please be aware that not all "open source" software is free to use anyway you want. If you intend on placing something you make that is derivative from the original software in circulation you must abide by the specific license of that software. Some licenses prohibit commercial sale or modification of the original game/content, while others allow commercialization but you are unable to copyright the derivative work as your own. If in doubt don't, or consult a lawyer. I'm not one.

That being said, check this out:

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_open_source_video_games

There are many games to choose from with different types of licenses. Some are more strict than others, so read their licence descriptions carefully. After that its just a matter of finding said software.

Some of them can be found here:

  • I'm having issues too. Still searching forums to find more talked about topics on the subject.

  • I wouldn't say hard. Just inconvenient, like picking up where another coder left off without any comments.

  • What was the blog post mentioned that would explain how users will upload content to sell on the store?

I vote whenever someone talks about a blog post there needs to be a permalink to it.
