  • set their angle the same as the ships when you create them

  • I like the art style

  • I have had this happen to me quite a few times recently. It is unpredictable and very hard to reproduce.

From what I can tell the window for splicing the sprite strip is still there, just not showing.

most times the splice menu will show up if I let it sit long enough.

Like I said it is all rather random, and I have had it happen in multiple projects. Restarting construct 2 doesn't seem to affect it, after a little while works like normal again.

  • Well I wanted to make sure that there was a key for replaying the level, I'll add return as an option for the next level though.

Yea, it looks like I am still having issues on the initial load, I need to scrap that code and start over on it, it clearly is not going to work.

I am going to scrap / combine some of the first levels to speed up the game-play a bit, so I'll resort some of the levels around when I do that.

  • Yea, includes will go a long way to clean up your code.

This is main event sheet for my current project:

It can still be a hassle at times, but if you use folders, includes and name things properly and consistently, it will go a long way to help you stay organized when you are nearing the end of your project.

Another technique I use is to create a debug event sheet as well. It basically serves as a test area that you delete before you complete your game. Once you have good code that you are happy with you add it into one of your include files and delete it out of the debug event sheet.

  • Update:

    • Changed level 16 to not be so god damn boring
    • Fixed title screen hotkey to play
    • Added some text to clear up the level unlock section
    • Fixed an issue with the progression system when replaying a level
    • Added some tutorial text to the third level
    • Added a restart level hotkey
    • Changed the next level hotkey to just the space bar
    • I believe I fixed the initial load issue. Give me a heads up if the game does not load for anyone.

Thanks for the feed back, any other thoughts?

  • Just saw the note on the stars,

How did you feel about the difficulty of them?

  • regisRquoi

    Thanks,

I will be adding tutorial text to the 3rd level where you need to flip sides.

Yeah, I really don't like level 16, but I had mixed feed back on it from my friends that tested it. I think the decision is final now, it has to go.

I had mixed feelings on 17 and 18, but it has been the favorite of most people, so I think I might continue that mechanic a bit more in later levels.

Level 19 is stupid hard for its position in the level order. I am thinking about setting it further along in the game, maybe 25-30ish

    Thanks for the feed back!

  • Playable Alpha, finally here.

This is still very much a work in progress, any feed back is welcome.

    Just a few notes:

    • Music and sound effects are currently disabled, I really don't like testing with them on
    • Level locks are disabled, even if you have not unlocked it, you can still play it.
    • The first 20 levels are enabled, the level selection screen for the second would is still there but the levels are disabled for this build
    • Tutorial text and control screen have not been added yet, WASD or Arrow keys to move.
  • I agree with regisRquoi on some points, but disagree on others.

I think the difficulty of the game is pretty good to begin with, games need to be difficult. Maybe tone down just a bit from the start, but the general difficulty is good.

I think the oil spill is fine. I noticed it looked like oil from the first time I saw it, slipped in it and figured it out right away, I think most players will.

As far as the building goes, I wouldn't mind seeing a progression bar. Either a small one right above the player, or a larger one somewhere on the GUI. Possibly directly below the health and junk indicator or right above the gadget buttons.

If you had a progression bar for building, then I think the cancel build could be as simple as moving. If the player is going to get attacked, their natural instinct is going to be to move.

Parallel 2 was made in 2 sittings on a weekend with the girlfriend out of town. I really hope that people enjoy this one more, lol.

  • There is an event called wait for signal, I would take a look at that first.

  • Only had about an hour last night to get some work done.

    • Fixed the level progression save.
    • Added pause and resume functions
    • Added pause menu using the new global layout feature.
    • Added a screen transition.

I should have a alpha build uploaded soon.

    Just checking. You never know.

I'll have my lady try it tonight, she normally does all my play testing.

Very proactive about feed back, I like it.

Still an issue with the control screen though, I am still able to click the website and back button (the one from the title screen) through it.

ran into the issue of having what seems to be the proper amount of materials and not being able to build again.

Right afterwards I was it also said "I need -1 Junk"

Not sure about this one either. Had 35 junk, and it told me I needed 8.

Muting the game sound effects after the match is over would also be nice. As I type, I can hear about 20 probes mauling my dead corpse.

A glow on the lava at night might be kinda cool.

And finally, just to clarify, although I doubt it is necessary, my comments are in no way meant to be insulting, I very much like your game.
