  • I have certain sprites with the Inverse effect attached to them. On start of layout I disable the effect so that they are not inverted from the start. But for some reason this does not work. Is this a known bug or is there a workaround?

    Thank You

Edit: The Inverse effect works on layout effects and disables layout effects on startup condition, but not individual sprite effects.

  • Is it possible for each individual animation frame to have its own variable? For example: Animation Frame 0 = AnimFrame0 (variable), etc., etc.

    Thank You

  • OK I am still having a problem understanding this. Say I have variable $PushButton1, $PushButton2, $PushButton3, etc. all the way to $PushButton10. Will the Next Expression fill these variables with the random numbers generated without duplicates in order? Just trying to wrap my head around how the expressions and code work in the plugin. Thank you for the info in advance.

  • Thank you blackhornet and fm4fanAT. I really appreciate the help. I have been trying blackhornet's plugin, but can't figure out how to set the random numbers to the variables.

I am going to give the array tutorial a try as well. Thank you both for the help.

  • I have scoured the forums, but couldn't find an answer. Here is the problem: I have 10 different sprites that are used for push buttons. I need each sprite to have a random number (1-10) assigned to each sprite variable. The problem I am having is that I don't want there to be duplicate numbers spanning the 10 sprites. Is there a way to check each sprite variable and if there is a number that is in another sprite variable it randomizes again until the sprite has a number not being used. The first sprite variable being assigned a random number is not a problem because that is always the starting sprite variable that does not need to be checked, all the following sprite variables need to be checked. This happens until each sprite variable has a number 1-10 without duplicates. I am sure there is a easy answer to this that I am missing. I appreciate any help.

    Thank You In Advance

  • Ah...understood. I do plan on learning about physics in the future, but I am going to wait until I understand the basics a little more. Starting with the example you made for me. Then working my way forward apply what I need for my game. It's an interesting program and fun to work with. Thanks again for the help and when I get a half way decent game working I will post the results here for you to look at.

    Take Care

  • Thank you both, lmchucho and Guizmus. This is very much appreciated. So what I am gathering from the recent posts is that physics would probably be the preferred method in this type of game? Can I still use the same code or events that Imchucho created? I would just have to change the physics behaviors, correct? Thanks again <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Thanks Imchucho this is going to help immensely. Just have one other question before I begin. Is the wind speed and variation always facing the players direction? If so, how would I make it change directions? For example show an arrow in what direction the wind is blowing. Thank you again Imchuncho <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />. I greatly appreciate this.

  • A few years back I posted about how could I make a Scorched Earth type game. I revisited that thread and noticed I can't open the .cap file anymore, so I figured I would ask again, since C2 has been updated in a huge way since then.

Basically I am trying to make a artillery game that uses angle and power. How would I use the mouse for aiming (using a trigger cursor), using the left mouse button for power (mouse button held down) + shows a power bar, and random wind variation that effects the projectile. The hardest part for me would be the calculations that include gravity, force, etc..

This is the same concept as Scorched Earth, minus the destructible terrain. I would greatly appreciate any help, as this would spark the interest in this game I've had for years now.

    Thank You

  • Worked Perfectly!! If I have any further questions would you still be willing to help out? Thanks again CoffeeOD...you don't realize how much this has helped me. I will put a short game demo together and upload so you can see how it is turning out.

    Thanks Again

  • Works great, only problem is that bbb ggg says computer says no and hhh doesn't pop up in the random letters. Great work though. This is going to work perfect for my needs. Will mess with the file more tonight. Thanks again.

  • This is perfect CoffeeOD!!! I had another idea for this example. What if the text were to instantly appear on start up with a column of 10 and a row of 10 text words? Also what if the text is clicked and entered into the text box how would you check to see if that sentence or word is correct? For example I click on eee then fff and it looks like this in the text box: eee fff. I want to be able to push a button and check a database to see if that is a sentence in the database. This is amazing and quick fast prototype you put together CoffeeOD. Very impressed, thank you again.

  • That is it!! Just one more request and it will be perfect. Is there a way to have the words appear in different text (like a row of text) and it only randomizes them once, instead of cycling through the text on start up? For example you have a row of blank text fields and on start up each text field is randomized with one word (then it stops randomizing), then you get to click on them to add them to the text box. Thank you CoffeeOD so much for helping me with this. I do greatly appreciate your work.

  • That is some of the procedure I was looking for. The only thing really missing is being able to click on the text with the mouse so it inserts it into the text box, instead of randomly appearing there. I appreciate this greatly as it is a great start for me. Just need the words on the scene so I can click on them.

    Thank You

  • I am trying to create a game that on start up generates random words on the screen. You can then click on the random words and it adds the word to a text box. How would I create the random words and would I use a button or text object to show the words? Also what would I use to store the words in a database (so they can be randomized) an Array, Dictionary, or XML file?

    Thank You
