  • Hi, everybody. I've been away from Construct for quite a while; working on school, reading, and stuff like that. Now that I started back in sprite animation, I made a sprite for construct, but I seem to be having problems that aren't common in other animations I've tried. After imputing the basic commands for a platforming sidescroller object, I found my character walks in opposite directions when the buttons are pressed, randomly switches between high and low speeds of travel, and occasionally jumps when I can get him to walk straight. He often flips upside down for no reason. I know this isn't an sprite-touching-ground problem as the animation, because the sprite runs fine while it is upside-down. I do not know what to do, even though this seems really simple. Thanks. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

Here is the .cap link so you can look/modify it and such. No other commands have been configured besides platforming.

  • Hey. I'm new(ish) at Construct, and am trying to make a basic platforming game. I would like to add a moving background. In this case, it's wreckage floating in space.

Because I don't know that much about custom animation, I attempted to use 8-directional movement. But I would like it to stay at the same speed throughout the level, and run on it's own. Additionally, I don't think creating an artificial loop like I did is the most efficient way to make something so simple.

This seems to be common knowledge, but I can't find it posted anywhere. The .cap is here:

    Thanks.

  • Hello! As for introductions, my avatar is the HatMan. I just turned twenty, and am one year away from graduating community college. I love fangames; especially the old AM2R and Portal Prelude. I found out about Scirra Construct after attempting to use Game Maker and failed miserably. My interests are reading, sleeping; emulations, cooking, and Wii. Eventually; I am going for a career in computer forensics and white-hat work; but my friends in the real world are interested in video game production; so I'm designing basic ones to challenge them.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Sounds good. I'll try that and get back in a sec.

  • Yo! This is my first topic post; so I might to be a little more abrupt than I will be in the future.

As a lot of you I've bothered recently know; I am attempting to make a side-scrolling platform shooter with aiming capabilities; a lot like Metroid. My problem is that, while I aim and run (Up+Right/Left) the running/aiming animation I have made does not play. Instead; it only displays the first frame of the action; making it look like the character is ice-skating. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it. This is one of the main things hampering my project.
