Timescaling - slow motion effects, stop time, speed up time, etc.

So, kinda like room_speed in Game Maker I guess (Except we don't have special effects)

And yeah Mipey, we've all been there, lol.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Lol, maybe you guys have an advantage then Ashley. But that's not a problem. Just curious, what does that feature do?

I look forward to seeing your entry Rich! We are really trying to expand the reach of GMArcade to encompass more programs...but last contest we only received Game Maker Entries

  • There is only one month left to the contest deadline! I would like to see some Construct programmers enter, and I look forward to seeing your games.

    Thanks,

    ~Admin Matt from http://GMArcade.com/

    Hello,

Some of you may have already heard about my site GMArcade.com, in short we are an Indie game development host and community. We even have technology on our site that allows Game Maker and other .exe games to be played with one button online.

Anyways, we are hosting our second contest, and would like to see programmers from several backgrounds and programs enter. The deadline is in six weeks, but your games don't have to be big. The theme for this contest is "Time."

Prizes consist of game development books by the renowned game development professor Jonathan Harbour.

To find out more about the contest, please visit http://gmarcade.com/contest02/

    Thanks for your time!

  • The plugin SDK is just a C++ written DLL, so anything you can do in C++, can be called from the plugin.

Darn...I don't know C++ Oh well, that has to come at a later time I guess.

  • There's currently no way to directly call a DLL from Construct events, but you could make a plugin using the Plugin SDK to call the DLL.

So a wrapper eh? Would the Plugin SDK be compatible with an ActiveX DLL/Library?

  • I'm beginning to see a Construct game or two on GMA, thanks for your support guys!

Anyways, I was wondering how complicated it is to use a DLL in Construct. Could someone post a code snippet that uses a DLL that I can check out?

I release my new GMArcadeDLL online high score and achievement system, and I want to include scripts for programs other than Game Maker.

    Thanks!

    ~Matt

  • nice. i'd submit something, but i had just started working on a game 3 days ago and will continue working on that (attempting to have it ready for a contest later in february). the "You are not allowed to submit a game that you have started before the beginning of the contest, you must create a game specifically for this contest." rule disqualifies it (i think it's a good rule though)

Yeah, Mr. Harbour advised that, just to eliminate people having huge advantages over other people. We'll have these contests every three weeks or so, so maybe next time

    Hello Scirra,

Some of you may have already heard about my site GMArcade.com, in short we are an Indie game development host and community. We even have technology on our site that allows Construct and other .exe games to be played with one button online.

Anyways, we are hosting our very first contest, and would like to see some Construct programmers enter. The deadline is in three weeks, but your games don't have to be big. In fact the theme is based on small, "Microscopic" in fact.

To find out more about the contest, please visit http://gmarcade.com/contest01/

    Thanks for your time!

    ~Matt

  • Awesome We'd love to have all the entries we can get.

Just make a new topic in Open Topic?

  • Hey Scirra,

Just wanted to invite you guys to check out GMArcade.com's first contest here:

    http://gmarcade.com/contest01/

I hope to see some of you guys enter!

    ~Matt

  • This is a great service.

Thanks Casho, I'm glad you like it! If you ever have any ideas for me, just post them in the forums on GMA or here. I'm always welcome to new suggestions, and they usually get added very quickly.

  • Maybe I don't have Java configured correctly.

I'll have to look into it later.

Games that require installation obviously won't work with this, right? How many of the games on your site work with this? Or are most of the games on your site Game Maker games right now?

Either way it's a pretty cool idea. It can definitely give users the feeling of a quicker play of the game.

Almost all of the games work right now, installation games won't work with this (it would just run the install file...which I guess would be okay). It doesn't matter if the games are Game Maker or not, any exe game will work. However, yes, most are GM games.

    Thanks

  • Hey, that's actually pretty cool.

It doesn't seem to work on Opera, though. Java does work on Opera, not sure why your applet doesn't.

What's the difference between downloading a ZIP file and opening the standalone EXE vs. playing the game on your site? It still has to download the file and everything, so it doesn't reduce too much time? Is this feature more for Game Maker games?

It doesn't work on Opera? What game where you testing it on? Try this one: http://gmarcade.com/game/DeathWorm.html I know it works.

As for the difference, there is none. It just eliminates clicks and gives the impression of online play. And this feature is for any kind of executable game

  • > People are more likely to play things when they're online.

    >

...really? I must be a weirdo then

Lol, casual gamers are more likely to play things when they're online
