  • Hey guys,

Im just interested, we obviously love games - what are people playing at the moment?

I stumbled across a cool game that is in open beta called Wakfu (Its a final fantasy tactics style of mmo). I had looked at dofus in the past (wasnt overly impressed at the time), then dofus arena (that was a lot of fun!), but now Wakfu seems to be a nice combination of the two.

Im not sure if its going to be p2p but you can still play it for a month before that happens.

  • Nicely done Stemkoski

  • Jesus.....

I dont want to be cynical, but it seems like its only a matter of time now before we'll be telling new generations of the 'great time' that the internet had very few regulations. :(

I remember (many years ago) laughing hard when i first heard that a company was intending on selling bottled water too...

  • Hey Peteer,

I really respect that you have implemented the the username password scenario (I bet it wasnt easy) - but to be honest, I find it to be a barrier between the player and your game.

I dont know about others but i get enough spam to make me really wary of handing out my email frivilously. If you disable it for testing or even add a "Guest" or "try first" I'd be happy to come back and tell you my thoughts.

  • Good Stuff Oreo, i remember seeing this on you tube a long time ago :)

Do you have any plans on improving the animation? The intro is done nicely - i like the effect you used.

  • Might be useful i will check this out later, but thanks for sharing it etspring.

  • Hey Kontinyu,

Id be happy to give you some feedback on your game, though when i clicked it it wanted me allow a popup? What is this for?

Generally - If i load up a game and it wants me to install/allow popups then i just move on (the exception is if the game is from a trustworthy company).

  • Nice start Seriall.

I know this depends on your type of keyboard (Azerty or Qwerty), but i dont find it comfortable to use the arrow keys (with left hand) and the mouse. All FPS games use AWSD for movement.

If you are trying to cater for both styles of keyboard though, i have no suggestion for better controls.

Velojet - haha it was fast, by the time i pressed spacebar then got my hand on the movement controls they were already on me!

Good first game - something you should keep building imo.

  • Hey there Radichio,

Nice start, I like the way the instructions are featured on the walls. Good thinking.

I would tone down the shake effect when you fire the gun though, if not remove it.

Looking forward to playing a bigger stage.

  • Thanks chris, when the performance on phones picks up i can see myself using this a lot.

    Cheers.

  • Sully, Wow!, nice work mate - Ive been away for a few days so sorry for the late feedback here..

Looks great, you've done so many things right - its immediatly obvious you have put a lot of time and effort into this one. I like the art direction, simple - yet detailed if you look closely. Gameplay is a good balance between hard and fun. Lol you werent joking, those samurai tear you up! :)

I really like the way you have set the game up - Ive never thought of having a sidescroller transition to the next screen zelda style - its a really nice way to break up your stage into mini levels. Well executed.

I second Vercingetorix's opinion of only having one jump button and using the classic double jump method.

Personally, i feel that the use of the mouse is a little bit unnecessary. I would be much more at home just using the keyboard (Or a gamepad for instance). This might be different if you had to fire off ninja stars in all directions in a kind of clutch style - but from what i tested i would prefer it if when you pressed "f" you could then press up and down on the keyboard to change the angle.

(While im talking about the stars - very nice job with the gravity, its very satisfying to kill the enemy by making it arch over a hill and hit the samurai on the way down).

Nice effect with the smoke. Have you thought of allowing the player to throw them the same as the stars? (Maybe that would break the gameplay in some circumstances - but it would be fun).

My Fav HUD is the one that is similar to the screen shot you posted, but without the border on the bottom. (Im a bit of a minamilist though).

a little bug, when you swap your quick item but you have no shurikens left, it flickers - only minor but i thought id mention it.

Im curious to why you dont get good performance in IE (and ff), that could prove to be a problem. If you dont use sine grass do you get a big boost in performance? (I like the sine, but unless my character was standing still i didnt really notice it to be honest).

    All in all, Well done!

  • Hey Gsp,

I recently saw a post in here about a trade being made; Art assets for a C2 license. I have no idea what your ability is (Coding, Art, some people may even need extensive beta testing), but if you have something to offer im fairly sure you could make the same kind of deal.

    Just a thought.

  • Hi Urled,

That looks like some hectic coding but i'll give it a shot :) - I did end up getting it working smoothly but its always good to learn new ways.

    Thanks for sharing that mate.

  • Lol. Very cute. I like it a lot.

One thing i noticed though was that his arms were a little out of proportion, (IMO) if the gap between his arms and his body is bigger on one side - it should be the side that is closest to us.

Its only a slight difference really, the first pic alters this ninjas left arm. The second pic alters his right.

Overall i think the style is great.

  • Thats close to 200 sprites! That is a lot of work (especially with a heavy edit).

If you dont intend to make any money off the game and its just for fun why dont you just change the colours of the overall sheet with saturation and hue etc? Have you got an image editor like photoshop?

You couldnt make any money with it that way but it would look good while still being different.
