  • I'm just going to say right now. You don't have permission to do a lot of stuff on these forums. Gotta build rep and stuff.

Dropbox works. I JUST followed that tutorial. Everything works fine (can't post links obvs) but I promise if you follow that tutorial it WILL work. It's the fastest loading I feel and I've tried 3 - 4.

I have my own URL and I can honestly say that Dropbox is faster. Sounds like I'm trying to sell them but it's just the truth.

  • Do you mean?:

You have a big white space say, 1080 x 1920. But your project area dimensions (dotted lines) are 795 x 448?

Anything you don't want to move on that area has to have a parallax of 0,0 (like your buttons). Everything else should load fine so long as you have all the events set up properly.

There are many tutorials for this.

  • You know in "Ocarina of Time" When like, you're going through the Water Temple for the first time and you've wrecked like, 3 N64 controllers trying to figure out where that stupid treasure chest with the key is? Well apparently I had my Player object set to global=yes...

    see? noob...

  • So I have this string of events that has started giving me issues today.

    Basically:

Player > On Collision with DEATH(object) > Audio | Play "ded"

    > System | Wait 1 Second

    > System | Restart Layout

I opened my project today and changed some player animations and it seemed to mess things up. So I put back those animations and it hasn't stopped doing this.

It changed my layout transitions (somehow) and now every time I switch layouts with the player it adds another player. And when he dies, he doesn't re spawn. The layout restarts (music, level etc) but the player object doesn't display any more. There are other weird things but this wasn't happening before.

Seems more like a construct bug than anything I have changed. But I'm also a complete noob. So there's that.

    Thanks for reading.

  • Thanks for the response! I kinda figured using variable was the only "successful" way of doing this. Guess it's time to read more on variables.

    Cheers!

  • Try Construct 3

  • Ah rep's too low, either way I'm sure you can imagine what I'm trying to do here...

  • My game is a side scrolling adventure/rpg. Similar to Illusia (mobile game on ios and google play) , and I thought it would be a simple task but I can't figure it out on my own for the life of me so I've been placing the object (player) on every layout.

The problem with that is that once you go back, the object (player) is in the same position it was from when you started the previous layout (level area).

Couldn't seem to find rules for the forums so don't know if links were allowed, but, the early parts of my game are here:WARNING - the game has strong adult language and is meant to be satirical/funny not offensive, click at your own risk. If you click the link, you agree to the warning. Anyway, if there's a simpler way to do this I'm all ears. Otherwise I'm at a loss

Thanks guys! (I'm new ps, good to be a part of it!)

  • Sup! I'm Gatlin Been looking for a platform to create a game I've been writing for ages. I'm glad HTML5 have proven to be a powerful one.

Gonna post some screens once I feel they're ready (even if early stages).

Glad to be rockin' Construct 2!
