  • I have a platform game where the player moves vertically.

And i have the following event, where platforms are generated randomly.

The problem is after player dies a few time and i press replay button, the number of platforms

generated increases as the player gets to the top. So it starts with just a few and as it goes up, i end up with dozens.

What i want is to maintain a constant number, from beginning to end.

  • I saw your example but i didn't manage to freeze the camera, is still following the player down even when it falls

  • So i added not fallen condition, it works almost perfectly

camera follows the player when it jumps, but there is still an

issue. In the game there is a platform which throws the player really high and the camera remains behind so the player is outside the layout.

When the player falls down, the camera still follows a bit, but

that isn't much a problem since it gets outside of screen pretty quick.

  • So i tried your method and it works but only partially. The camera still follows the player even when it falls from a platform,

and i want to freeze the camera somehow and only the player to fall.

Also the camera has a slow delay, when the player jumps high the camera remains behind to the point where i can not see the player anymore. Pls see Doodle jump to know what i want to achieve.

  • So i have this platform game, where the player jumps from one platform to another. What i want it is

the camera to follow him only vertically/up, when if falls the camera will remain in the same position and the player will fall outside of layout(doodle jump like). I tried a few things with scroll to behavior but i don't have to much control with that.

Maybe it's simple than it's looks but i spent hours trying things and doing research and i couldn't work it out.

  • Hello. I have a created a vertical platformer game, simmilar to Always UP. The player has to jump from one platform to another to reach the top.

Once he reached the top i want to create a transition to the next layout, from where the player will continue.

Any ideea how i can do that?

Pls search for: "Always Up! iPhone/iPad Gameplay" to see what i intend to do.

  • Thanks a lot , it worked after all

  • Personally I'd use an "overlapping at offset" event to set the jump strength of your platform object,

Could you be a little more specific. I tried : "platform object" is overlapping "player" at offset (0,0) and the action was: player set platform jump strength to...a number that i set. I don't know if this is how i supposed to do but the result is not the one i want.

  • Thanks a lot, it worked. But one more thing, how can i set the jump distance, let say that some platforms throw you higher.

  • Hello everyone. I'm working on a vertical platform game, similar to doodle jump and i couldn't figure out how to make the player automatically jump from one platform to another. Help would be much appreciated
