    Heard about that yet?

That's what I thought too! I haven't played either. Excited by anything valve makes. L4d2 is a riot (and the first is still great too). I'm currently in a heated battle with my wallet over Portal 2.

I've been playing Borderlands on PC. Just beat the main campaign, and moving on to the DLC.

Just bought Costume quest on xbla. Hoping to get the wife to play that with me

edit: oh, and sooooo much minecraft. always minecraft.

  • Looks great!

Somepony has a hit on their hands.

    ...overall awesome perfectness...

When you go pro, don't ever compromise on this

  • Are there any recommendations for new users of C0.x, such as features that are known to be buggy or broken, or practices that are best avoided?

I've read the letter to the community and the Phenomenon 32 article, but the problems still seem ambiguous (to me).

  • ...device like the iPhone 4 (which supports HTML5 well) the performance is still what I would consider unplayable

    My experience was the same.

On my work PC with integrated graphics, i get 60fps on a demo. that same demo on my iphone 3GS gets about 15 frames.

The 3DS can push more pixels (higher fillrate), but i'm not sure how that relates to canvas.

  • Great list! I have a few to add:

    Tiled Map Editor http://www.mapeditor.org/

Tiled is a general purpose tile map editor. It's built to be easy to use, yet flexible enough to work with varying game engines, whether your game is an RPG, platformer or Breakout clone. Tiled is free software and written in C++, using the Qt application framework. The main features in a nutshell:

General purpose tile map editor with XML-based map format

        Supports orthogonal and isometric maps

Custom objects can be placed with pixel precision

        Full undo/redo and copy/paste support

Add custom properties to tiles, layers, objects or the map

Automatically reloads tilesets when changed externally

Resize or offset your tile map later as needed

Efficient tile editing tools like stamp and fill brushes

Supports input/output plugins to open and save files in custom formats

    Tile Studio http://tilestudio.sourceforge.net/

Tile Studio is a complete development utility for graphics of tile-based games. The application contains a bitmap editor for creating tiles and sprites and a map editor for designing level maps.

Tile Studio was originally designed to be used with the Game Library for the language Clean (a functional language, developped by the University of Nijmegen). But Tile Studio can be used together with ANY programming language, since the output is completely programmable! You can program Tile Studio to output your maps, animation sequences, bitmaps, palettes, etc. in any format and include the output directly into your source code!

  • I've only made one update to the C2 wiki, and haven't looked at it since...but there is that.

also, help in C2 links to the wiki, so that's pretty great... one wiki to rule them all or whatevs.

  • The check fault is little beyond that. it repeats the fault about 1/second repeatedly until I hit ignore. When I do hit ignore I get a windows error.

Construct 2 game creator has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

  • This only seems to happen when I have an object in the layout. If you delete the object, you can delete the layout without the error.

    Here's the Cap

    ---------------------------

    Construct 2 Check failure

    ---------------------------

Check failure! This is probably a bug:

Project bar: too many layout items in tree

    Condition: l != layouts_end

    File: Bars\ProjectBar.cpp

    Line: 1930

Function: void __thiscall CProjectBar::VerifyLayoutFolderOrdered(const class LayoutFolder *) const

    Build: release 30 (32-bit) checked

    Component: Construct 2 IDE

    (Last Win32 error: 0)

You are using a 'checked' release of Construct 2, intended for testing, which causes potential errors to be reported this way. Hit Ctrl+C to copy this messagebox. Click 'Abort' to quit (unsaved data will be lost!),'Retry' to turn off messages for this session and continue, or 'Ignore' to continue normally.

  • Sweet!

I'm able to work around it for now, so I can be patient.

  • Thanks, Ashley!

I get the error in FF4 beta

In chrome there's no error, but still the same strange behaviors.

  • GM PRO is 25 USD.

  • I whipped up this little game, and was trying out the enemy smackability, but found there's a frequent error at runtime.

"Assertion failure: Cannot find instance on layer to destroy"

Once the error hits, everything goes haywire thereafter, even after reloading the layout.

    http://www.box.net/shared/crkqetuyhx

Any ideas? i'm not sure if it's my scripting, an html5 problem, or a bug in the exporter.

Edit: here's a slight update: the enemy isn't destroyed, but is repositioned instead

  • ...Firefox 4 beta 12 drops to around 31 fps.

no problems here in FF4Beta. Getting steady 60+. Drops to 52ish when rapidly clicking.

  • I've been looking in C2 too long. I was like where's the +y, do they float in the air?... and totally missing the "toward bottom"
