  • Hello everyone :)

Just a simple suggestion to improve the site n_n

I use search a lot in the site to look for manual documentation and such. So every time I click in the Search bar on the top right corner instead of letting me write it sends me to another page so I can type in a new search bar. I think its kind of wasted time that process, and makes the top search bar kinda useless.

My suggestion then, is that the search bar should work immediately instead of taking me to another page..

    Thanks a lot n_n

  • Hello everyone

I started posting without introducing myself

My name is Italo Capasso, I've been lurking for a long time using construct classic (but usually I use a lot of engines/languages). Creating games is my passion and I would love to actually do more of them (the more the merrier n_n).

I finally decided to get an early adopter license, to see and wait how Construct 2 develops :)

So lets see how this goes, cheers! n_n

  • My recommendation for a temporary workaround is... well using a password system n_n

Ahhh doesn't that feel like old times already? :)

  • So, I've been trying some wrappers out of the box, not much time for me to do actual programming, I was just testing them right out of the box n_n making the fastest possible wrapper with no serious look into it.

Note: I'm sure Ashley has already done this with probably many more, but I wanted to test it just in case anyone is trying to do the same.

I've tested these with the physics ragdoll sample and space blaster.

Adobe Air + flashdevelop: Works but laggy, anything with sound will trigger an "Audio variable is null" exception and won't run

Titanium Desktop: Same issues as adobe Air. (although it wont show any warning or error, but I assume its the exact same thing)

Mozilla Prism: It does run better, but also kind of lags sometimes. Same issues with audio though.

Asterclick WBEA Binaries (which is based on the Chromium embedded framework, but this may be a very simple implementation): Works very slowly. Also, games with sound, will not work like the others.

    What is left to test:

    Awesomiun.

Phonegap for windows/mac (desktop): There is an obscure implementation fo phonegap for windows and mach. This may be a good shot, these are:

    github.com/davejohnson/phonegap-windows

    and here

    github.com/shazron/phonegap-mac

    Who knows, the might work!

The google native client: this might work too who knows.

    code.google.com/p/nativeclient

Mysterious things that I do not know what they are:

appmobi.com Looks like an open source implementation to create acceleration on many platforms... it might works on desktop too. And fo course it actually might be useful for many other things n_n

    gameclosure.com

Another odd thing, has a private beta, is this just another sdk or do they have a wrapper? hmm

I hope this may shed some light on the subject :)

    Regards

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • To be honest the issue of wanting an EXE, at least for my part, has nothing to do with performance/reliability (or html5 suck blah blah blah...).

I believe that a main reason(and a very important one) is something like Steam/GamersGate/Desura. Its hard to ignore such juggernauts accepting indie devs, but you cannot do anything about it because your game is in html5. I'm pretty sure they will ask you for a binary format. They will even accept flash games as long they as are in binary format (like VVVVVV when it first came out on steam).

So the ideal thing for me is if at least there is an html5 wrapper would suffice, maybe with chromium or any other webkit implementation (hmm I wonder if they support webgl). Monetization is extremely important for many users, and right now due to the early stage of construct 2, we can only have the html5 exporters (and fo course phonegap and chrome :)) (which is fine of course n_n).

But I think its important to understand that many people buy and download exes, even if the consumer doesn't realize it, through other channels like steam.

And yes, Kiyoshi put it kind of blunt, but also kind of true: "How do i make money with HTML5? Right now i don't."

At least without chrome web store (which is awesome, but I feel its too small an audience).

That said, kudos for making the experimental Phonegap integration. I'm sure many of us(I do) is very happy for that implementation, even if its experimental.

I think many understand that this will take a lot of time.. its just a matter of patience.. everything will sort out :)
