  • Cool!

  • If you click on an empty spot somewhere on your current layout to show the layout properties in the "Layouts" panel, there's a label at the bottom that says 'Applications'. If you click the Properties link beside it, it'll bring you to your game's properties. At the bottom of this, you'll see a heading labeled 'Controls'. This is where you edit your default keys.

  • There is no layout object in C2, but there is something called "global layers" that can be used for a hud.

Just checked it out, and it works just how I want it to. Thanks!

  • I couldn't find this Object in Construct 2, nor did I find it in the forums.

I'm not sure how many here are familiar with the 'Layout' Object from Construct Classic, but I found it really useful for things like mini-maps, and especially HUDs. With HUDs, it saved me a lot of time since I didn't have to go through every single level to add or remove an element of it.

  • I've been using C2 for years and have never run into that issue unless i've had like 20 copies of C2 open at once.

That's a really good sign, cuz' I'm really itching to make some games with it. Hopefully, I don't have to worry about importing three sprites larger than 128x128px before the engine crashes on my face.

  • Hi all.

I haven't posted here since last year. I finally decided to buy C2 last month after using CC for almost three years (used it to make a couple of small games and game jam stuff).

I've actually never touched C2 before, and with my experience with CC, I have a question: did C2 inherit that serious memory leak bug from CC? In the latter, if you saved too many times or when you had a certain (read: fairly small) amount of art and audio resources imported, you'd get major graphical glitches, and just as often, an "Out of memory." error message before it completely crashed and closed. Konjak, the developer of Iconoclasts who used CC, reported the same issues a few years back in this thread: https://www.scirra.com/forum/construct-classic-r2-released_t66915?start=40

Thanks, and I hope to be more active in the forums in the future!

  • For the last 7 months, I've been putting in an average of 8 hours everyday (this includes weekends). There were some odd days that I took off because I was overworked. Probably a sign that I need to re-evealuate the work schedule for my projects.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Nevermind, I was able to find the solution through trial and error. Thanks to anyone that was looking into this.

  • Hi,

This is my first time here on the forums, so please excuse me if I'm not posting according to community standards.

I'm having a problem with my game where I have duplicates of one type of enemy in one layout, but when the player kills one of the copies, all of them get destroyed. There are also different types of enemies in the game, and they're all under one Family called 'Enemies'.

I actually found a thread on the forum that shows exactly what my problem is and people showing solutions:

    scirra.com/forum/how-do-i-not-kill-off-all-enemies-simultaneously_t166619

Replies to the OP suggest manipulating the unique ID of the enemies, but I'm not sure how you go about this on CC. The most useful answer (which ultimately came from the OP) is a YouTube tutorial video, but it's unfortunately only applicable to Construct 2. Here's the video that the OP linked in his thread:

    youtu.be/KN_QXfiHVbw

Just wondering if there is any way I can replicate what that video tutorial did with the enemy UIDs, but in CC.

    Thanks!

  • Hello everyone. It's nice to have finally joined the board. I've been using Construct Classic since early 2015 but haven't got around to joining the website. Hope we can all be friends here!
