    I think you're asking about UI right? Select the object and add to selection using ctrl key, you can wrap the selection by right clicking>> choose wrap selection as well. Make sure the layers involves are actvated.

  • Why you never look back at gamemaker may I ask ?

    It's a choice and personal preference. Because I evaluate based on my set of skill and compatibility, I know I'll do better in C2 than gamemaker. It's like making a choice between a Ferrari and a Lamborghini.

    This statement might not apply to everybody else, the manual itself is the selling point for me. It's like going shopping electronic stuff, I have the tendency to look for manual, well that's just who I am.

    Actually that is already in-depth, and a good answer. Take time to browse through manual based on what he said, I guess you should be good.

    I support this idea +1. Rather than ranting everytime, why not make the discussion hot right? I agree with you that a hot topic is an indicator of how impactful the features being discussed.

    I'm in no position to give opinion here, because I have no plans on using that at the moment, but probably I will later. I would say the community loves OPTIONS. So, why not?

    I've looked at your website and it seems you want to approach the community commercially, why not ask Tom to put you in a Usergroup? Do it like what Spriter does, I bet it gives the impression of how serious you are. I bought Spriter on a whim simply because they are somewhat associated with Scirra, it gives me confident in purchasing their product, even though I don't have needs to use them extensively at the moment.

    That comes from GameMaker community right? Well, here you will heard and told the total opposite.

    Anyway tools will always be tools, depends on how compatible you are with, choose what's best for you, don't let people make decision for you. Killing slime will work either using sword or bow, it's up to the character.

    I have no programming skill before this, there are reason why C2 fits person like me the best. There are reasons why I never look back at gamemaker. So, find your reasons, believe it and stick with it. Feel the force Luke!

    This is possible if there's a signed consent letter between owner of the brands and the dev. I think you are too young to handle legal matters like this, even I myself have low confidence in this. Well parodies works, for example if you spell Apple brand with Abble with a completely munched apple logo lol.

  • What do you mean by "keep the default value as blank"?

    Edit: okay so what you said worked, but one of my files will not show text objects when i run the game. It's visible in the editor, but not in the game. And its on the top layer, and set to visible, i don't know what's going on. is there a know glitch that causes text objects to disappear?

    Have you tried r179? There was a known bug which caused object to be shifted because of parallax, it was fixed in r179, according to Ashley.

  • I don't quite get what is the actual problem is? The problem can be at line12 and line 13, as in comparing string to number, probably...

    The nested On mouse click is nested under every tick, looks weird, dunno whether that is the actual problem.

  • What do you mean abandoned ? As in what happen?

    Some sort of "power creep" in terms of knowledge, because when I start with C2, the existing users encourage to start small, which I did, and very glad I did that! As I develop, things become clearer, so I constantly moved on into something more complex which is the reason the "lesser" game being abandoned.

    The previous 7 are not really abandoned, if only I have the drive to complete them I can roll them out anytime, what is lacking for me now is "time". As a non-coder, I rather spent my time on learning C2 until I master it than spending my time doing arts to complete my small games, which doing arts is something that I'm kind of better at but time consuming, at least a much more developed skill compared to my coding ability.

    What kinda games you made with it so far?

    I made 7 which all abandoned. One of them is 2D fighting game, a street fighter-esque, which seemingly very possible to do. Working on the 8th one, which is my dream game to make, thanks to the previous 7, I have learn a lot to an extent that now it is possible for me to do something considerably as complex as CCG.

  • Line3 and Line4 are probably comparing a string to integer, this wont work. Use this instead (only if your Score variable is integer):

    Condition

    [System: Compare two values] int(webstorage.localvalue("HighScore")>Score

    Or use:

    Compare Key value (as number)

    See whether that helps.

    Does't make sense at all. I don't have that problem, probably it's your hardware driver issue.

  • Thing is, I've yet to see a REALLY successful C2 game in the play store/app store.

    I think this was discussed a few time here, so here goes my opinion.

    I think the misconception is that one always think that a game engine play key success factor in getting successful. However, it is actually not related, it depends on luck and "what" actually published by C2 user. Let's think about it, rather than keep looking for whether C2 games has made it out there, why not challenge ourselves to be "The First One" to be successful. If we keep looking this way, and given up just because no user made it big with C2, it's like a dog chasing it's tail.

    Engine will always be an engine, being creative and appealing is what we should be aiming for. In the end, C2 is just a tool.

    Analogy: Heck, I dont think a success factor of a novel is determined by the tools used by the writer, it can be notepad, ms word, or just pencil and paper, but CREATIVITY IS.
