  • Thank you both for looking at this, I sorted it by ammending features in the capx posted above.

  • They are circular?

  • Hey,

Could any kind person explain to me the simplest way to restrict one sprites movement to be within the confines of another sprite? i.e. like in a virtual thumbstick?

I'm trying to get the top sprite to be able to be dragged within the boundary created by the larger sprite below and snap back to its original location when you let go again.

    Thanks

  • Hi any help/suggestions would be great.

I'm trying to find a way so that on an 'on screen' button press my character jumps a set distance forward for 400px. So I'm looking for some way following a single input for the character to effective jump forward some way.

I've tried simulating controls for a platform behaviour by press up and right together but I still just get an up jump with no horizontal movement.

I've tried a few other things that haven't worked like custom movement move at angle etc.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I'm trying to locate any details on how many glyphs per line for loading sprite font sheets into Construct I can use. The reasn I ask is that I have created a number sheet with 0123456789 all 200 x 200px - when I load the sheet into Construct 2 and set the character list in properties to be 0123456789 then it recognises all but character '9'.

I have put all the sprites in one horizontal line, unsure if this is why it hasn't recognised the last glyph.

Any guidance would be awesome, thanks

  • Thanks Tabloid A I've already read that and the other Web font tutorial hosted on Scirra. Neither apapproach worked - hence I'm wondering of I've set it up correctly. I've created a test project using Google fonts now and when I host/run that the fonts work in IE but not Chrome so I'm just stumped.

  • Hi all,

I've tried various ways to get a webfont to load in my construct 2 html 5 game hosted at a G Drive but I can't get the fonts to load at all. Initially I tried creating webfonts from a custom font and adding the font files and css into the game files (bundling them to the same location as the index - and pointing the 'Set web font' action at the folder) but that never worked. Now I am trying to point the 'Set web font' action to a Google font, but again it still isn't working.

If I upload the capx could some kind person take a look please and see where maybe I'm going wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

  • I think I actually just got it (or a crude version at least!)

On create> add sprite.Y to YInstanceVar

On Sprite overlap + Pick High/Low instance variable > pick Highest from YInstanceVar > Move to Top Layer

    It kinda works

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Hi, Im struggling with a problem that I'd be very grateful for help with.

In my game flowers (one object) appear at random places within a set area, I am trying to make it so that when a new instance is created it detects if there will be an overlap with an instance of that object that has already been created, check its y-position and then if the new instance has a greater or equal y-position it'll move the new instance to the top in the z order.

    I hope that makes sense?

Effectively I am looking to make it so that when a new instance of an object is spawned it'll place it either in front of or behind previous instances based on how high up tghe screen they are - giving a sense of depth.

Everything I've tried so far hasnt worked as Im dealing with instances of the same objects (I can do it if its sorting between different objects!)

    Thanks
