  • Hi,

    Happy New Year!

I have been researching for a while to try to understand how to setup in C2 TOP Scores (not local scores - scores that everyone can see) but information i stumble upon is either no longer working, is incomplete or is very complicated.

What is the EASIEST method to implement TOP Scores in C2 which will work for the long term? i.e. not using some website or plugin that might stop working after 1 year.

This is the best guide I have found so far and I can attempt to do this if there is no easier solution (I am not super technical person)

Creating your own Leaderboard / Highscores easy and free (PHP MySQL)

    Thanks in advance,

    Happy 2018!

  • move music in sound folder and set preload sound to YES

Hi, i read a bunch of times not to do that, but since I don't find a clear solution I will do that - thank you.

  • Haha nice game, well put together.

    Thanks plinkie

  • Hi, the game music seems unreliable or perhaps I have some mistake? I have both the .m4a and .ogg files for all audio since I imported .wav and C2 created the other 2 files. Music is added in the Music folder while Sounds that always work are added in the Sounds folder.

For example I just published my latest game (https://dolygames.com/crazy-funny-runner/) and when I first opened it in Chrome or Firefox then everything worked fine. But after several times (visiting later / reopening the page) of opening the page the music stopped working in Chrome and the character is running without music.

I then tested it in Edge and there was no music at all.

My music control is (for each layout):

    > On start of layout

    >> GlobalSoundOn = 1 (it's always 1, i have no event to make it zero)

then 1) Audio Stop All and

and 2) Audio Play MUSIC looping

Anyone can help me to fix it so that music always works?

    Thanks in advance

  • I can propose another simple way:

    on whatever condition

    choose(1,2,3,4,5,6)

This chooses one of the 6 numbers

  • Hi hi,

Maybe I didn't understand something, but when I tried to play it there was nobody to fight and nowhere to go. Additionally the sound was with errors perhaps as explained above by NN81.

So, sorry I didn't get the game :S

  • Hi Siva2D,

I enjoyed playing your game (Shoggoth Run). I liked the darkness aspect of it and the light/shadows. I thought the monster is going to just run straight but then he tried to hit me with his tongue which was cool.

If this is your first game that's really an amazing performance for a first game.

I have 1 question and 1 comment for you:

    1) Would you be interested / would it be OK to publish your game on my DolyGames gaming portal?

    2) I'd be happy to check and publish any future game you make on my portal.

    1 point of feedback:

I'd prefer to have a choice of controls. Some players enjoy WASD for example, but it's also quite easy to allow Arrow Keys. I played with 1 hand, but I'd prefer to play with 2 (1 to move 1 to shoot).

    Best of luck,

    COSMOS

  • Hi, probably a noob question but gotta learn somehow

I bought some game templates from the Scirra Store. They are templates, so not complete games. The menu screen graphics say template, etc.

So in order to make them into complete games I need to add a bunch of stuff like levels, various logics, graphics, etc. but I read in the Store License text that I don't receive ownership of my purchase, but only permission to use it, if I understood that correctly... so how do I use this exactly then? It's currently called Template, so it does not even have a name of a game. I then must give it a name, let's say My XYZ Game but that would indicate that I am taking ownership of the game while I am not allowed to do that?

    Thanks in advance

  • thank you drop2000, I didn't even know there are a bunch of engines, i just used Events with whatever was the default setting, so i will give it a shot and see if something is different

otherwise does each engine have it's own strength in some area? I mean how do you select an engine for your project?

  • Hi, I have created an angry-birds-like game recently using PHYSICS and it runs fine when testing on the computer and tablet, but when I test it using a fast Android 7 Moto G+ smart phone then the game is very clearly lagging and is not smooth running even on the most simple 1st level.

The game itself is not super complex and has minimal elements, for example there is only 1 box type and nothing crazy is happening physics-wise - just basic collision only during release. But it lags even during the camera span when only minor physics are happening.

Here is the link to the game if you want to test play / verify the lagginess: https://dolygames.com/angry-hillary/

My other non-physics games do not lag at all on that same smart phone.

So as the title says "How do I remove the smart phone lag from a physics game?"

or do all C2 physics games lag?

    Thanks in advance

  • I believe he's talking about an actual, physical, object he wants to be detected through the actual image capture of an actual camera. Not the game camera, not a sprite, virtual, object.

Oh - that's totally next level stuff for me

I didn't even know we can do stuff like that in C2
