Are you selling games made with the free version?

  • "volunteer" and "a lot of artwork " is rarely a good combination.

Why don't you offer a % of the potential income?

  • Thanks for all the emails <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Think I've found what I'm looking for.

The links doesn't work (404). And the language might be a problem.

  • Hi all!

I'm an 34 years old Norwegian game artist (3 years experience), looking for an coder to team up with. I'm not interested in joining a team, just looking for one C2 coder (50/50 profit-split). I have LOTS of ideas, but I'm just as interested in working on your idea(s). I also have experience with music ( gameassetgalaxy.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Rubies-Of-Mars.mp3 ).

I'm not expecting you to be able to work 30/H week (most of us has family,"real" work and friends), but at least 5 hours each week or more would be great so there is a bit momentum in our projects.

    Requirements:

-You must be over 18 years old (minors and money don't mix).

-You must like(and be able to create) almost all types of genres.

-You must be able to take and give constructive criticism.

-You must have some examples for me to show your expert coding skills.

-Must be able to listen to my awful English regularly over Skype:)

    Email: tom.klovholtyob@shadow-embryo.com

Hers some of my examples of what I can produce:

  • Why didn't you include a link to your portfolio?

  • > Isn't XNA dead?

Why should it be that ? ;)

  • Can you PM me the links? I can't find anything to backup you claims.

And I can't remember seeing any posts (the last 3 years) with a so low %.

  • Can't find those links to your sources? <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Between 30-50% is standard (from my experience and what I've seen on forums). if there's more members in the team the % will go down. It also depends on the game you're developing. An hidden object game is much more work than an quiz game for a game artist.

  • peeweeninja

Thanks! But I'm unfortunately out of business, so I don't do freelance work any more.

  • Can't find profit-share %, only salary rates. Can't you just post the links to you sources?

  • Can you post the links to your sources?

    I've done profit-shares before, and then I worked for a 50/50 split.

  • 10% sounds extremely low. How do you justify you keeping 90%?

  • Excal good point.

And here's my tip (based on experience): if you get a team together, make sure you have an art director (can be one of the game artist. Or if there's more, the best one). Get feedback from the whole team, but let the art director have the final say. That way the game will have a consistent look (if the art director is any good), and the artist(s) won't quit after 2 weeks.
