  • Here: http://www.fileshack.us/get_file.php?id ... aspect.cap

This example tests the user's desktop resolution to determine if they have a 4:3 (1.33) or 16:9 (1.78) monitor.

The black bars are manually placed based on some simple math.

This example will only go fullscreen if you have your desktop resolution set to a 1.33 or 1.78 aspect ratio, but you could test for other ratios as well and set them accordingly.

I didn't get a chance to test this on my 16:9 monitor, but I'm pretty sure it works (I faked it by setting my 4:3 monitor to a 16:9 resolution and didn't see any black bars when I went fullscreen, so yeah, I think it works.) Even if it doesn't work, it should give you an idea of how to make it work.

  • Yes, it's working fine.

But I'm also looking at a different .cap that the one in your screenshot. The example you posted isn't the same.

  • this would allow me to express object "knockback" (like a character getting knocked slightely backwards when hit by an object without using sloppy physics...)

That would require some new conditions to be added to the platform behavior. Something like "Object is pushed away" with a dropdown for "From left," "From top," etc.

I think if this method of pushing platform objects away from solids rather than up through solids is implemented, I think "Object is trapped" -> "Horiz," "Vert" would be a useful condition to have. Like it's intersecting on both the left and right and can't be pushed either way. You could make squishing traps and stuff that way.

  • And this is from changing the window size to a larger size?

I'm only asking because I can't recreate this problem.

  • The jump is too rounded. Try bumping up the gravity and jump strength to make more of a pointy peak in the jump. Mega Man has a rather triangular jump.

The accel and decel feel pretty close though.

  • Holy crap, that's an awesome song

    Sending you a pm...

  • Confirmed:

Right click to place sprite, clicking the BUTAN breaks it.

It's a bug, you should report it to the bug tracker.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Okay, well I'm not exactly sure what you want us to try out... I'm changing the window size and measuring how far the button moves?

  • These are all very good points, aka "fifthed."

  • Maybe effects could be on their own tabs like behaviors are currently? That'd make sense.

    I like that idea.

  • Hehe, you know it is possible to unswirl images in photoshop...

Not that I care to spend the time doing it just to see what you're hiding, I'm just saying

  • If it's breaking like that then it's a bug and you should submit a bug report.

  • But the hotspot of the tiled background is always in the top left corner... I don's see how it could be changed since it stretches from that point.

  • Voted "Bad Idea."

Make your engine first. Ask for help as needed in the Help forum. Then go shopping around for artists and musicians.

It's highly doubtful anyone will help you unless you show your work first. Get the engine done, or at least playable, and then you'll have better luck.

Also, making mockups of the enemies and levels would give people an idea of what kind of look you're going for.

That looks sweet, did you do that with Construct?
