  • Thanks! This helps a lot!

  • What expression would I use to make a sprite/bullet shrink while heading towards a point? I want to make it look like the character is shooting into the background, the closest example I can think of is Wild Guns or the stages of Contra where you're in a corridor.

  • Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for!

  • I'm trying to make a layout where when you reach one side you're seamlessly taken to opposite side. I'm trying to make the illusion of infinite space, not like asteroid where you leave the layout, I'm aware of the layout wrap option. I want it so a player could keep flying in a direction and they'll loop back without being aware of it.

So far I've tried making a invisible sprite that when you touch it it sends you to the opposite side, but I can't figure out the right expression to do that. Right now it's set to Sprite3.x-(Sprite.X) Sprite3.Y-(Sprite.Y), I feel I'm somewhat close with this but it's not working the way I want it to.

  • Not like Asteroid. Asteroid is a small fixed screen, I want something that's more expansive. I want the camera to follow the player around and when they get to the end of the layout they're automatically taken to the opposite end seamlessly without a jarring cut or leaving the layout like in asteroid.

This is the only example I can think of, I'm sure there's a few other space games like this.

  • I guess I want something like the Scroll to Behavior. I want the player to be able to fly around the lay out and when they reach the edge it seamlessly takes them to the opposite side of the layout.

Right now when I have it set on Scroll to Player Object and I have the Player Object set to Wrap to Layout, it will follow the Player Object until it gets close to the Layouts edge then it stops and then when the player leaves the layout it does the jarring jump back to the opposite side.

  • I'm trying to figure out how to make smooth scrolling movement from one side of the layout the other side to give the perception of infinite space. Not sure how else to explain it, I think the way Sinistar plays is kind of like what I'm trying to do. I sifted thru the forms trying to look for an example but I couldn't find one.

  • Since an update of chrome a few month ago, lots of old projects broke. There is nothing you can do about it, besides asking for a reupload

I also had a feeling it might have something to do with the age of the projects. Thanks!

  • Most games I play on the Scirra Arcade freeze before they start for me. Like My Irrational Fear of Unicorns, that game only gets up to the part where the Unicorn comes in and as soon as it's head pokes from the side the game freezes. Is there a chances there's a problem with my browser or something?

  • I'm trying to program enemies that bounce when you hit them, go different distances depending on the strength of the hit, and when they come to a stop, they get up and keep moving. I'm using the pre-installed platform template and experimenting. So far I have the enemy sprite programmed with only a platformer and bullet behavior, when the player sprite collides with it, the bullet behavior is enabled and it's angle is set at random between 90 and 45 degrees and its gravity to 1500. It does bounce but now I'm trying to figure out how to decelerate it so it comes to a stop.

I would really like advice, especially if there's a better means of creating this certain effect.

  • Thanks! That works great! I'm barely getting into Sine behavior, can't wait to experiment with the capx.

  • I and a friend are trying to program the player of our game to have a Yoshi-esque flutter jump. So it would be like a double jump but on the second jump it turns into a slow hover that build up propulsion, like he's fighting to stay in the air. We where trying to make it from pure code but we honestly don't know where to start. We've messed around with gravity setting but nothings coming out right. We would love to hear some ideas that would point us in the right direction.

here's a link of what we are trying to achive.
