  • I would truly love if you could check out our new game, Faded Memories: Video Game Edition. It's a fun little side scroller with video game trivia. If you need a free code, let me know. Thank you for the support!!!

  • Hi, I made an educational game to be used in schools and I am at a point where I could really use some community feedback. I would ask that anyone willing to help first digitally sign an NDA. I would love any help!

  • Thanks for the suggestion, Onix. I never thought of that. As of right now, I just tried to put everything on the Layout at start.

  • OK. Update. It doesn't seem to be tied to the NW.js version. In fact, the HTML export is acting similarly. Reading the logs as it loads, it appears that the game is loading every single layout's images at the start-up. Any idea why this would be happening?

As another weird side note; I was able to export an NW.js version that runs properly by unchecking the preload sounds. (It runs the initial layout at 700 MB instead of 4 GB) We have a lot of sounds, but I have no idea why this would affect the game in such a way.

As usual, any ideas at all are utterly appreciated!

  • Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone knew what was happening with my export. My maximum estimated, layout RAM usage is under 1 GB. When I export an NW.js, task manager states it is using nearly 4 GB's of RAM! When I export using version 27.2 of NW.js task manager says I am using exactly what I expect (under 1 GB of RAM).

I was hoping I am doing something wrong that could be easily fixed, but I just can't see what it is.

    Thank you all,

    Daniel

  • Ashley, I totally understand what you are saying. I would not think of holding you responsible for other's add-ons. I am just letting you know, that as a new developer I feel as though I received very mixed signals when I first began to utilize Construct. On one hand, I was shown these add-ons in the store that made me feel as though they were totally acceptable to work with, and it wasn't until later I realized the cost of that. Perhaps there could be a message that makes your stance more clearly from the get-go to people who view these add-ons in the store.

I am in no way belittling your effort. I truly appreciate the opportunity to work with Construct. I am a veteran teacher who has played video games for nearly four decades and is trying vigorously to bring that joy into the classroom.

    Thank you for your time,

    Daniel

  • Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for the fast replies and support. I am creating an educational game and needed a downloaded version for my students to try today so I resorted back to the previous version (r225) to do so.

Ashley, I know you are always trying to help me, and I would love to be able to file a form on such occasions, but when I first started using Construct, nearly 3 years ago, I purchased multiple add-ons from the store (that have been very helpful). Over the past years I have learned how troublesome having these add-ons can be as I am not allowed to have my project looked at with them integrated into my game.

Maybe I misunderstood, and I can have the add-ons purchased from the store, but not other add-ons? I just wish I would have known from the start if it is the case that all add-ons make it so I am not able to file bugs I run into.

Thank you for always reaching out to me. I wanted to share my honest opinion, and I hope it helps.

    Sincerely,

    Daniel Vasi

  • My game exported and ran great on r225, but as soon as I updated to r234 I can no longer run my export. I am exporting for Win 64. I merely get a black screen. When I press F12 I am shown the following errors. If anyone can help interpret what the issue is I would truly appreciate it!

  • I have a lot of sound effects in my game and I was wondering if there is a way to display the total memory used by them (without downloading each one individually). Thanks for everyone's help!!!

  • Thanks Calm,

I sent you an email. Thanks for the response.

  • Hi everyone, I am not sure if this is the correct forum for this. I have been working on an educational game for quite some time, and I am at a point where I would like to purchase some help in regards to optimization. I am looking for someone that is able to help me lower ram and CPU usage without sacrificing the vision of my game.

If you are interested please let me know!

    Thank you so much,

  • Does anyone know what the following error code is referring to? It has happened multiple times with a different suspicious context. Thank you for any help!

    Error report information

    Type: assertion failure

Message: language context stack reached 100 items - is this right? Suspicious context is ".position"

  • Unfortunately, I haven’t reported it yet because my project contains multiple plug-ins. In order to upload a testable version I am currently trying to reproduce the glitch in a new project. Please let me know if you find anything out!

  • Thank you, folks. Luke, I too realized that placing the item in the layout stopped the loading glitch, but there are 2 issues:

    1) This never happened before.

    2) I purposely don't have everything on the layout to cut down on image memory.

dupugub, can you walk me through how to find the github page?

    Thanks again!

  • I have not run into this before, but all of a sudden, when my game spawns an object that is located on another layout it flashes a little black square behind the object (approximately one tick and only on the first time the object is loaded in). This doesn't occur for every spawned object, but it now consistently happens with certain spawned objects that have never exhibited this glitch before. Any help would be truly appreciated!

    Thank you,

    ~Daniel
