  • Hi, I can do basic Graphics, Text logos ETC. Send me some more info and I'll come back to you with something tonight (7-8pm UK)

  • Hi, I have been using construct two on and off for around a year now, and have started making something I hope to develop into a full (albeit small) game.

I was looking for some feedback regarding the quality of the sprites/animations/mechanics, and any room for improvement.

I have made a level and uploaded it to the arcade, which you can find here: scirra.com/arcade/other-gam ... -demo-2080

EDIT: I dont think that link worked. you can add this to the end of scirra.com: arcade/other-games/subut-demo-2080

The game focuses on a family of three who end up in a cave. There is no context in the demo as to why, and that is intentional, as I don't want to give away the idea I have for a story.

Each family member will have there own skills, and the core mechanics are implemented showing what they can do.

Bob, the father, can jump up two blocks.

Betty, the Mother, can support Bob on top of her voluptuous hair, allowing him to get a further two blocks up, but she cannot jump herself.

Billy, the baby, can roll around. He is literally a ball.

the goal in the Demo level is to activate the three switches, then get to the finish. Nothing happens when you get to the finish, its two in the morning and I just wanted to get something up before I go to bed.

I would really appreciate as much feedback as possible, be as critical and constructive as you can!

If anybody would be interested in the capx, then I would be more then happy to upload that as well, and would love some feedback on that too!

All the sprites are my own design, the music from Freesounds, CC0.

THANKYOU TO ANYONE WHO TAKES THE TIME TO GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK!

  • Yeah, just installed the latest driver update from Nvidia. As I said above, I'm using the Steam version, which a couple of people have attributed the problem to. Is it the Steam version you are testing with?

  • Is there a fix? A LOT of people use Steam, and I can bet a pretty big chunk of people use Construct 2 through it, has anybody found a workaround?

  • I'm using the steam versions also.... I should probably have mentioned that earlier.

  • Well hi there

My name is Tom, I've been using Construct 2 for a few months, and I'm finally finding my feet.

I'm trying my hand at making sprites, I'm planning a couple of small games a castle tower defence style game, and an exploration platformer, with some lovely pixely sprites

I've completed one (very) small game, which you can check out in the feedback request forum

  • Thanks Zenox, I just wanted to clarify to ashley, as I think he may have only checked the preview and not gone back to the editor.

I've spent a few hours clearing out my computer & defragged my hard drive, I've also moves construct 2 over to my 32gb ssd, which I recommend to everyone, everything feels much sharper to use

There is still some noticeable slowdown after I've closed down the preview, but it is only happening with this Capx, which I'm pretty much finished with anyways. imothep85 , are you only having the problem with one capx, or all new projects?

  • The edge border looks really cool. Also, what would happen if a power up spawns a wall in the middle? (just wondering )

Well i guess I'm just gonna have to make a 1.2 version now...

  • AFTER previewing the capx, CONSTRUCT 2 runs slower, not the preview. The preview runs with no issues, it's construct 2 that runs slowly.

    I'll just put this here...

    "Steps to Reproduce Bug

    Step 1: load .capx

Step 2: preview in browser (Chrome) then close preview

Step 3 etc. You can best see the problem in the event sheet, scroll up and down, and try to change some events, everything is a lot slower and unresponsive"

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • No problems with cpu or memory, and no new addons. I have adblock and avast for chrome, but thats it

  • Nice little prototype. I think it's too small to worry about condensing events, & too early for polishing. Instead I think you should experiment with extra game mechanics, here's some ideas that sprang to mind while playing:

-some kind of powerups: extra maneuverability, speed, shield recharge, bombs, decoys...

I likes that idea, and it was pretty easy to do, so thank-you

  • Good job, the hardest thing in any development is just to finish something. I like the look, would be better with the sound files I'm sure. I'd probably like the score to go up faster, i.e. the longer you last rather than for each spawned enemy. Well done.

I had a play with the scoring system, you now gain a couple points every second, but you can get bonus points by collecting pick-ups, killing enemies, and getting a kill combo by killing bombs when they are right next to each other. Thanks for the feedback

  • Thanks, I know what you mean about finishing something, I get sidetracked so easily so just to make something simple in a complete game was a challenge did you take a look at the events by any chance?

  • TL/DR : New to construct 2, made a small game, would like feedback on how to polish/condense it.

    Update

Thanks for the feedback, I have updated my little game with powerups & a better scoring system. I've also taken out the sprites I got from the internet, I wasn't happy using sprites Made by someone else, so I was going to make my own, but I'm quite happy with the simple block colors for now. Let me know what you think!

    Now with sound!

    Hello everyone,

I've been using Construct 2 on and off for a few months, and got back into it around a week ago, and have been playing around with it non stop since.

I usually make ~30% of a very small scale game, before thinking of something new and making that instead, and I really am just starting to get my feet wet, but I managed to make a complete, Bug-free (I think) game, and I would love some feedback on what I could improve.

It is a small, one level, top down game where you control an atom, dodging other atoms to gain points. there are two different enemies, and uh... well thats about it, but I think I can use this little game to help me refine my skills.

I have attached the capx, and I have tried to put comments on the even sheet that make as much sense as possible!

A massive thankyou to anyone who takes the time to give me some feedback
