  • My very first game has just been released on the Google Play Store!! Built with Construct 2! (The best 2D engine known to man-kind....)

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... s.circdrop

The game is a casual but somewhat difficult reflex game. Survive as long as you can by inserting the Circles into correctly coloured bars. (Blue to Blue, Red to Red)

It's a small game with the intentions to be played in small bursts while on the go!

Hope you guys like it. It is the first game that I've ever completed and to be honest for just over a weeks work I am quite proud of myself. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy"> It's simple, yet effective.

  • Thanks for the reply, I probably should of stated in the OP that I have emailed Support already and awaiting response. (I most likely emailed outside of office hours). Just thought I'd ask the community to see if anyone has had a similar situation.

  • So I bought Construct 2 Personal a few years back. A while after, Construct was made available on Steam and I transferred my license to Steam.

Fast forward to now, I was wondering if there was a way for me to go back to the Desktop app? I am unable to find my License key on the store page. (Which would be because it's now linked to my Steam account)

I know it's probably a long shot, but thought I would ask if it was possible.

  • Ah, Thanks Heaps, fixed my issue.

Was a simple one, I was making it Set Position for some reason instead of Set Angle Toward Position. Always the small overlooks that get me.

  • I'm messing around and trying to create a prototype for a side scroller shooter.

Now what I am aiming to do is be able to move a sprite, but have the arms be able to follow the mouse. (As to aim.)

I've got the moving and everything else down easily enough.

I have created 2 seperate sprites, one being the Body and the other as the Arm.

I've Pinned the Arm to the Body sprite, I'm unsure if that is how I should go about it.

But I am not able to make the Arm follow the mouse, essentially have it swivel on the Body and aim where I am pointing while the body stay where it is.

Could anyone give any insight on how I could remedy my frustration on this?

(I would check the manual, but I am having trouble accessing the Main Scirra website at the moment.)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • That actually looks like something I should do for fun when I get more practice.

  • I know how you feel, I'm currently at that certain phase. But also stuck in the art department similar to Theubie.

But as people have been saying, the best way is to try and isolate all them into categories..Which ones you really really want to see finished, which ones are almost finished, which ones you don't really care to much about.

Then pick from there, work your way down the ladder. Keep a rough percentage of how complete something is then compare with others.

But the hardest part of any project, whether it's games or anything else, is the motivation/focus.

  • Thanks heaps for the link Dave, that's very helpful.

Hopefully I can get myself to find the effort/time to create some art, I just find it difficult to get myself to learn how to use new programs. :P But I'll get there.

  • Thank you for your reply Dave.

I have just started using InkScape, really great program. Hopefully I can pull out some better art work.

I was trying for kind of realistic look, but it's much easier for the cartoon look, plus in the end it really looks better.

  • I am currently attempting to make a basic top down shooter, with my own artwork. But I am having trouble with the artwork bit.

So I was just wondering if anyone could share what programs they use for background artwork, or if there is any tutorials out there that could help me or anyone else facing the same dilemma.

  • Thank you for your help BluePhaze. You've helped me understand the whole process a bit easier.

  • The problem I am having (This is most likely just due to me not understanding.) is when I do export into HTML5, and run the index.html it'll come up saying "Exported games won't work until you upload them.". Am I doing something wrong?

I have read that article and a lot of the tutorials, but I can't seem to find a direct and easy to understand answer.

So I take it that Kongregate etc. Is classed as For-Profit organisation? Therefore I cannot post there until I purchase a License.

If that's the case, with free edition is it okay to publish to the Scirra Arcade?

  • Hey, new game creator here.

I've been searching but not finding the information I wish to know.

I'm in the middle of creating my first game, and I was wondering if there is a way I could play it offline before I put it on a website or what not.

Example: I make the game, and then I put it on a USB stick and have a friend test the game out for me, search for any issues etc.

PS: Is it okay for me to throw my game up on Kongregate, even though I am using the free version? Are there any legal requirements for me if I do?
