  • If anyone is looking to get a solid introduction to Construct2, I recorded a Pluralsight course and it's live and ready. If you don't yet have a Pluralsight subscription, you can get some free hours for signing up and I think you get enough to watch my whole course. Enjoy!

  • SpacialPumpkin, yes, $100 per game. You can go to aka.ms/win8appmadness to register any apps you've put in the store. Set up some office hours with me if you want some help with the whole process (http://ohours.org/codefoster). Have fun.

  • I work at Microsoft and we're excited about Construct2 for creating Windows 8 apps. We have an event starting soon called ZERO260 where we're going to do training sessions live online. There's lots of stuff to win like...

    • $100 per published app (if you're a student)
    • Free copy of CorelDRAW X6 Essentials for EVERY participant
    • Chance to win Forza for Xbox 360
    • Chance to win Xbox 360 Race Wheel Package

Get more info at zero260.info and let me know if you have any questions. You can email me at jeremy.foster at microsoft.com. Sessions will be every Tue and Thur on various game types, and the first session starts next week! See ya.

  • BTW, you can go to windowsstore.com/applabs and sign up to go to a Microsoft app lab if there's one near you. This allows you to go test your app on multiple devices.

  • Thank you.

  • Nevermind. I got it from the XML file. Works perfect. Awesome.

  • Thanks, Would you mind uploading an r114 capx? I don't want to install r116 since I'm collaborating with others.

  • That worked a beaut! Thanks,

  • I have an object that is correctly moving toward the mouse cursor when the user holds the button down. I am doing it by simulating the 8-button control. When the object reaches the mouse cursor it passes it a little and then bounces back and takes some time to settle. How do I ease the object so that it lands on the cursor without passing it up?

  • Link to .capx file (required!):

    sdrv.ms/YnuiuC

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Run the game

    Observed result:

The text in the button is small (0.8em) and a view source confirms that the font-size property is 0.8em.

    Expected result:

The text in the button should be larger since on the start of the layout the font-size CSS property is being set to 2em. The other properties are taking effect.

    Browsers affected:

    Chrome: yes

    Firefox: ?

    Internet Explorer: yes

    Operating system & service pack:

    Windows 8

    Construct 2 version:

    r114 (64-bit)

  • Well, instead of using animation frame 1 or 2 I think I can just set mirrored and UNset mirrored, but I see you're both saying that I need to trigger off of the user input. I was hoping to get the event from the actual sprite's direction though because I plan to implement touch and mouse and then I'll just be repeating those event conditions or create big or... or... or... statements. But that will do it. Thanks.

  • I have a sprite that should either be pointing left or right. The sprite has an 8-direction behavior, but the sprite shouldn't point any direction... only left or right. I would expect to create a new event based on the 8-direction's angle, but I don't see that as an option.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • It's odd because if you don't add a Windows 8 object under there, then you won't get any trouble over the project being in test mode, but if you add a Windows 8 object then the default for Test Mode is Yes and you can have trouble running the project once it's exported.

If you've added a Windows 8 object (under Object Types in the Projects tab) then you can set Test Mode to No.

  • Hi there. I'm Jeremy Foster (aka codefoster) and I work at Microsoft. I'm pretty new to game development in Scirra, so be nice when I ask questions. My focus is Windows 8 apps using HTML/JS, so hopefully I can offer some help in that area.

  • A friend of mine just published Angry Turds on Windows 8... made with Construct2.
