  • Good news everyone ! <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle">

I made a few improvements in my Space Jump Game (graphics, bugs correction...)

You can test the game here : Space Jump

Did you unlock one of the 5 secret levels ? ;)

  • Hey Everybody ! <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle">

I'd like you to introduce you "Space Jump" a 2D platform/precision space game

    Overview :

You control a small jumping robot, in a large space center.

The goal of is this game is to reach a target at the end of each level, avoiding traps, and using environment.

To make the best score :

-make sure you get stars (10 per level),

    -use a minimum of jumps

-be the more precise you can when you try to land on the target !

    The link :

    space jump

if the game is slow, try to get the last version of Chrome, or try to reduce the Browser window to half (dunno why, but sometime it works).

Controls (if you dont speak french) :

Jump : click the robot, maintain, choose a direction, and release

    Camera : right click

    Game Menu, Back : ESC

Space Jump (jump in the air) : Space

Jump Preview (while holding click ) : G

Hope you enjoy the game, feel free to let your comments/suggestions ;)

  • Ok i'm gonna try to explain this more precisely :

what I would like is to access to all my game/instance variables and properties, during the runtime, while i'm in the navigator.

I'd like to access values, read it and rewrite it if possible.

I was talking about Google Inspector as an exemple, because it's already a good tool to check some data about your game :

For exemple, if you try to use google inspector in your game (right click > "inspect" under chrome) you can see a Console, then you can check ressources/SourceCode/Network access...

All these data can be usefull (for exemple you can check the 'Local Storage' in the "Ressource" tab, and see all the key your game have stored, then modify the value if you want to), but I can't find the instance properties on it.

I was wondering if this tool (or a similar tool maybe someone have dicovered) was able to show also the game/instance properties (x,y, velocity...).

The purpose would be to gain a lot of time during the tweaking process :)

Of course, maybe I'm overestimating the tool power, in this case, i'll try a more specific approach (textboxes...).

  • Thanks zsangerous, this could do the trick indeed.

But I was looking for a more "automated" solution, which doesn't need textbox creation or stuff like that. When I see tools like Google Inspector, or Firebug, i think it may be possible (but i don't know how, and maybe it's a wrong idea).

Of course, if there's no such solutions, I will try the "custom debug mode" with textboxes, and global variables, or create and share a plugin for this :)

  • Hi,

I'm looking for a way to check and edit my instances properties at runtime with navigator tools (google inspector for exemple) or something else.

For exemple, i have a spaceship in my game, and it has many properties. Some are object properties (x, y, ... related to sprite type object) some are behavior properties (velocityX... related to the physic behavior), and some are custom properties (life... custom variables i made).

I want to know if there is a way to see those values, and edit them in runtime (if possible), while i'm playing, in order to tweak efficiently my game (no more play/quit/tweak/play... needed).

I'm sorry if the answer has already be given, but I can't find it.

Of course i can do my own "debug edit mode" with textfields and stuff, but i'm looking for an "automated" method, using a navigator tool/custom tool.

    Thanks !

  • Hello Ashley,

Since I succeded in getting the solution to my problem, i didnt read the topic answers ^^'

I don't have the crashing .capx anymore (it is solved now, and i dont have the "crashing" version of the file), but if I meet this bug again, i will send you my .capx.

  • Ok :D

I just tried to delete the uistate.xml for the layout file too, and now everything works fine. I guess my layout was saved in a wrong ui state, so it couldn't be loaded by Construct 2, and the error wans't handled, so i had the Crash.

The bug is less serious than I thought.

  • Ha, I just found something new.

I tried to delete the uistate.xml file linked to my game project.

Now my project can launch properly in Construct 2, but it will Crashes when i try to load a specific layout (my most recent work). Of course, all other layouts work fine.

How can I load my layout without crashes?

  • Hello,

    i'm working on the R91 beta, and I tried to load my game project this morning, but i have a Construct2 Crash. <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I can load properly my other projects, and my game project backup (from yesterday) still works.

The last time I saved and closed my game project, everything was fine, so I don't understand why I can't load it anymore (Construct2 Crash 100% of the time). If I can't load my project, I'll loose hours of work...

Anybody have the same problem, or an idea to solve it?

    Thx!

    Romain

    My config :

    -Windows 7 family premium 64bits

    -core i5

    -nvidia gt325 (with optimus system)

-graphic drivers up to date recently

  • Ok thx <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Hi again,

someone else has this bug ?

This is a small .capx to illustrate, all you have to do is push "R" on keyboard to restart (reset layout) during game, and see the freeze.

With Chrome output feature, you can see more details (right click > inspect > console).

  • Hi there, <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

i found a small bug when I use the enable/disable collision feature. I'd like to put my capx, but it's my entire project, so i'll put a small capx example if necessary (but maybe the answer to shis problem is obvious, so...). The bug appears when I try to restart my layout on runtime (and it is caused by the enab/disab feature because I tried without, and it works well).

    Steps to reproduce :

I have 2 physic objects on my scene, a "ship" and a "ghost".

In my event sheet, in my "on start layout" I do this :

1- destroy the ghost, previously drag and dropped in my scene

    2 - create the ghost on my main layer, in x :-10, y :-10

3- disable its collision with another object called "ship" (the ship is drag and dropped in my scene)

    4 - set the ghost to 0?

    5 - make it immovable

Later in my game, when I press a keyboard touch, the ghost is placed on my ship, put it in movable, and projected with an impulse, and the ghost perfectly ignore the ship collision (the ghost is a "trajectory preview").

But : when i restart my game in runtime (reset layout), the game freezes. On the Chrome output, I have the following error :

<font color=red>Physics_behavior.js:1593Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'add' of undefined</font>

I'm a bit familiar with programming, but I don't understand this.

Tell me if my example is not clear enough, i'll make a special capx to illustrate.

    My config : windows 7, chrome 17, 64bits and Canvas 2D only.

    Thx!

    Romain
