  • So, I'm making a sort of knock off of Smash Bros. and I want to implement the feature that when your enemy is off-screen, you see where they are and in the direction that they are.

If you've ever played Smash Bros., it's when your friend is very high up in the air and you can see their position with a little red bubble until they're back down.

    Any help?

    Thanks

  • Hi, I need some help regarding my game.

Every time I try to upload a new version of my game to Scirra Arcade, the version doesn't change.

I can tell because the old mechanics are the same.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I've tried exporting multiple times as well as uploading different capx files.

    Thanks in advance!

  • This is a very big question..

Creating enemies that move towards the player is easy, but for the jumping you'd probably need invisible sprites to trigger the jump..

The hardest part would be creating the conditions for the enemy when to do things and when not..

Do you think I could have the enemy path find to the player and then when he hits invisible sprites at the end of the platforms it would trigger him to jump?

  • I have the main character attacking an enemy but I have NO idea how to make it so that the character goes towards the player while on the platforms, jumping and all. Basically, creating AI that has the same rules the player has to follow (i.e. no flying)

If someone could redirect me to an article (and I have searched for them) or a video that'd be awesome.

    Thanks!

  • I would think you'd need to create some variable, let's call it "ammo".

Then, on startup, set ammo to 100.

If (key) pressed AND ammo > 0, then shoot bullet.

    Hope this helps!

  • First, I want to say that this is a NON-PAYING job. You'd just be helping out a poor little child.

    Anyways, here's the summary:

Hi, My name is Ben and I'm working on a year-long school project right now called 20 Time. The details about that are at 20time.org (Apparently I'm not allowed to post URLs yet). Basically, 20% of our in-class time is spent on an external project. The guidelines for it were that it should be something that we've always wanted to do but never had time to do, and it had to help people in some way. I've always wanted to make a video game but never had the time, so naturally I chose that. We started this in August, and we're supposed to have a mentor, but I've procrastinated until now, and we're required to have one before January 7th. The only requirements are you have to talk to me (over Skype or in person) twice through May and keep up with my blog posts. The link is sdsfelson.blogspot.com (Once again, no URLs), and I try to make the posts interesting.

Hopefully there's someone out there that's interested?

Oh! And please be familiar with C2 if you are. (I think that's a given)

    Thanks again!

    Ben
