  • Damn. Weren't even close.

  • Hello again! I'm back and here are a few updates for my game!

To start off easy, I remade the character select screen with some pixel art and added a sound to show what they all sound like!

Next, I've added portals in my game so that the player could teleport! The reason why was that in a game that I made about 7-8 months ago, there were portals that could take you to a new level or teleport you to a different location! So that's what I did!

    Last but CERTAINLY not least...

I'm making different biomes for the game!

What I mean is that there will be different environments for the character to run in, I'm planning to make these biomes:

    Grasslands (Levels 1 and 2)

    Beach (Level 3)

    Desert (Level 4)

    Savanna (Level 5)

    Temperate Forest (Level 6)

    Taiga (Level 7)

    Tundra (Level 8)

    Lava Lake (Level 9)

    Cave (Level 10)

While I know that not all of these are biomes, at all, I thought that it would fit in with the game, though it'll take a while for me to complete. Also, this is just an idea that I had, so It may not happen, but we'll see.

Anyways, thanks for reading this, have an AWESOME day! :D

  • For a beta version of a game made in the free version of construct, this is very AWESOME! I really liked playing through it! Nice job man, keep up the good work!

  • Well, the issue is fixed for advancing to a new level and dying and reloading the save game. Good enough for me.

  • Have you tried ticking the box next to the lock?

It won't display the layer without the box ticked.

  • Okay, while reading the guidelines for reporting a bug, I saw that I had to either replicate the problem or get a copy of my project and proceed to delete everything on it until what was left was the bug. After deleting and deleting, I found the reason why it happened.

So apparently, it was this animation that was causing all of this nonsense. I'm not sure how and why (I've always speculated it had something to do with the buttons), but I guess this was the reason why the game would freeze. If it weren't for you, I may have not found out why this happened. So thanks!

  • As a person who played your game, I can confirm that it was AWESOME! I really liked it! :D

  • Okay, I'll do that!

Btw thanks for telling me to chop up the character animations. It actually helped (not in the way I was expecting but thanks)!

Edit: Where would I go to tell the construct team about the issue?

Ok here is a newer version with the latest changes. Also, it doesn't seem to matter what level you go into. I guess the second time you go into any level (For example: Dying in level one and then re-entering level one; beating level one and advancing to level two) the game freezes.

  • Well, I reduced the memory usage to about 250 but I still don't understand why the first time you go into a level, the game doesn't freeze, but the second time you do so, it freezes. :/

  • Well, I tried having the layout spawn in the character chosen instead of having all three of them. But even then, the game freezes when I die/beat the level and enter a new level.

  • Well, how would I be able to delete the characters from the particular layout but still be able to set the visible face of the player billboard to the character that I chose? It doesn't look like making a separate layout with the sprites can do the trick.

  • While deleting the characters reduces the memory storage to around 60-ish, the player billboard doesn't display the characters. Keeping them in makes the memory storage go up to about 360 now. And the worst part is, it isn't even the reason why the game freezes up. While your advice lowered the storage while making more object types, it apparently isn't the reason why the game freezes.

  • Well, I tried making an object bank by placing the characters and the grass tiles onto another layout but there was one issue...

I really don't know how object banks work.

When I deleted the grass tiles the face of the 3D blocks with that tile became invisible. So when I deleted one of the characters under the layout, leaving him in another layout, and selected the character, this happened.

  • Yeah, your right, I tried it and it looks like it doesn't work. Guess I'll have to scrap the mobile controls. But is it the assets loading the reason why the game freezes?
