Ashley's Forum Posts

  • Perhaps next time a better thing to do would be to just describe what happened, then ask for advice on what to do. To be honest I don't like people going around mass-deleting posts, because then we get a bunch of dead links on our site (or if not done carefully, nonsense threads). It might be better to use the strikethrough tag [ s ] and [ /s ] (no spaces) to mark unusable content, with an edit tag saying what happened. E.g.: [s:3blnaprb]Download my tutorial[/s:3blnaprb] (edit: file went offline May 2011).

Anyways, these things happen, might be worth exercising a little bit of caution next time. Locking this thread for now.

[quote:1nxvyvc8]Q: Will there be an EXE exporter?

A: Yes, eventually. Either the Scirra devs will make one, or a third-party will make one. With the modular exporter system, it could be both. By the time C2 can be used for much, there will probably be an EXE exporter.

  • Yes, you can just install it to the same path you had before and it will overwrite the old version. In fact, that's a good idea, so you don't get different copies of Construct installed.

  • Marked stable, will now be going out over auto-update.

  • Please also bear in mind that the nature of software development means some bugs may not be fixed (either for technical reasons or because the reported functionality is by design, etc). We'll do our best to keep you informed with what we're doing about bugs, but we can't guarantee a fix on every single bug.

  • ...you know you can get a gripper for the width of the conditions section and pull it wider to prevent that situation?

  • Can't you reupload good copies of the files?

  • If no objections I'll mark this stable and push it through autoupdate some time tomorrow.

  • Djordhan, to some extent I think you just have to put your foot down and state what the rules are, otherwise everyone will pick at things they don't like and if you change your mind nobody will be sure what the rules are any more.

  • Cool, I'll post this on the facebook/twitter and if there are no more major problems reported in the next day or two I'll mark this stable and put it through the autoupdater.

Link to previous build (r1) changelog

Release 1 introduced a physics and platform bug. While trying to fix that, Microsoft quietly issued a security update which changed the dependencies of the editor, breaking the installer - that's why 1.1 got retracted. This build should fix the r1 bugs as well as having a working installer.

    16th May 2011: Marked stable.

Click the r1 changelog link above for the (much bigger) list of fixes in that release.

    Changelog

    • [FIX] Physics: Fixed r1 bug where physics objects spawned after start of layout would fly off the screen at high speeds. (lucid)
    • Platform: Fixed bug where you could not jump down through a platform. Caused by r1 fix to the 'landing in midair' bug. Both fixes are working now. (lucid)
    • [FIX] Installer: fixed issue introduced in r1.1. (Ashley)

[quote:1eqmo08k]Q: What happened to (or where is) <some feature>?

A: C2 is very young. Features will be added in time. We probably want to add that feature, but haven't got there yet.
