  • They are just called Graphic Adventure games. Text-based would be Zork: textadventures.co.uk/games/view ... hz_vq/zork

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventure_game

uh i know what a text based game is i played basically i dont know how many of them.

like mindwheel, breakers, which are created by the same creator. as far as i know anyway.

    sorry those where just examples <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" />

and i knew what it was... i just forgot the name of it. the games have text based, properties so i guess thats what got me confused.

played zork even though i didnt play much cause i wasnt sure what i was supposed to do,

, zork doesnt seem much fun to me kind of also

  • I've never used it myself but I heard that Quest is good for making text based games (I've done some research for my game). You might want to at least check it out. textadventures.co.uk/quest

already done actually i have quest but i aint very fond of it,

can't do much with quest when making verbs they dont work the way you want them to.

besides when i said graphical text based game, i mean a game with graphics and textbased, like you can see where your at and type to do stuff like actions.

not plain images though, i forget what these games where called but i think theyre known as text based adventures.

i think trying to use c2 is worth a try for this, wont know if i dont try <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" />.

if you want to know what games these are like, sarien.net even has police quest and other quest textbased adventures. i dont know what device your on but you can try

  • Yes, it is possible. C2 might not be the Best option out there though. But it can (and has) been done.

yeah i know your probably right, but don't really got any other way to make one i tried looking up things on what i can use to make graphical text based games, like the old police quest (well only two of the series are text based)

well ill try c2 even though its not the best choice

    thanks for the help

  • ok so my favorite type of game is a text-based, which is also referred to as IF (interactive fiction)

well i like graphic games too of course ,

i have an idea for a game but im not sure if text based (note with graphics) is possible in construct,

theres a event called text box so it might (or not) be possible.

cause if it is i want to try, never made a interactive fiction with graphics before always wanted to though.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Do you mean like an inventory system?

no..... a inventory stores things the player has... a container is an object that stores objects in it like a fridge is a type a container it has food inside... which like a container

    something like that anyway

  • for my game i want to make a container i can put things in. and take it out [in-game wise]

i tried the container thing for an object till i read the container help page... thats when i found out what the container is actually for...

so thats where the real comes in:

how do i make a real container not the container that is used to make different objects

  • Just add or subtract from variables, and use text to retrieve the number to display to the player.

    thank you ill try that

  • how do i make game status's? - well im making this cooking type game and i want to make a money status for a store does anyone know how to make a money status for buying stuff like food at a store like when you buy something at a cashregister the numbers on the status wil go down like lets say this:

example: a woman gets a turkey from a store fridge and goes to the cash register to buy it the turkey costs $25 so the money in her wallet would subtract away 25....- just like the stat does ... i know that was a horrible example forgive me

also i wanted to use a list for a few things but i dont know how can anyone help me on that aswell if possible

  • ok im making this game its a cooking like game how do you make a sprite clone when its clicked?

this may sound wierd but if its possible to do this wont the clone ave the same event lol

  • You could trigger a sound file to play on some event (e.g., clicking on the NPC). [For animation, see above.]

    I ant use sound

  • is there a way to make npc talk or something

update: sigh I cant use audio im trying me a rpg game where a bubble at the bottom comes up with the characters name like other rpg games have like idk final fantasy sorta like that maybe I should stick with rpg maker
