  • I liked the unlock system. It's fun. Even when it was annoying. And you don't grind to unlock. You just play the game like normal. The only difference is, you might have to play medic longer than you wanted to.

I like how it encourages you to learn a weapon by only allowing you to use a certain thing. However, it can be frustrating at times when you just want to use something else. Especially when I made a new character (called "STOP CAMPING"), I had to spend forever unlocking everything again.

the spawn area thing is irrelevant. The whole game is squad based, so you and your squad coordinate by spawning off of eachother or off of captured points if you all die

The squad system is okay, however when you end up with a team of campers (usually happens in Arica Harbour, my favourite map) you'll basically be stuck near spawn the whole match. While everyone just has the guns focused at spawn waiting for someone to pop-out.

[quote:14mbbebb]Being able to specify filters to help you choose between hundreds of fast servers, all with gamers in them. Servers that can be customized. It's how it's supposed to be. if your team sucks, be the one that makes it better. if it still sucks, change servers. If you want to play similarly skilled players, try different servers until you find a good skill mix, and favorite it. I don't need my pc telling me who I should play against. When I play with or against vets I learn from them, and sometimes its fun to kills noobs over and over.

It probably works better in America, but theres usually only 1 or 0 servers playing Arica Harbour in Australia with settings I like (I only play small maps, cause shotgun is the most fun weapon) so theres really very little choice. And I usually end up with an absurd amount of kills, and have to change team multiple times during the game so that the game is balanaced (if 1 team starts dominating in conquest, the other team will get stuck at spawn point). But killing people who suck all the time, or getting stuck against opponents who camp on the boundries sniping at you is just tedious and boring after a while.

If you like sniping and vehicle combat though, BC2 is amazing. There is plenty of places to hide and take cover, and lots of open spaces and long distances between things - perfect for sniping.

  • The aesthetics side of the game is about the only thing Bad Company 2 did right.

  • Bad Company 2 had a lot of poor design descions, mainly bad map design that encourages players to sit still and snipe (not to mention the funnelling movement from the spawn area). The grinding to unlock things is particularly annoying in a game that's trying to be competitive. Learning the game and each of its weapons is the most enjoyable part, but once you've mastered the game, theres nothing left for you (I suppose playing in a clan would help, if you can bothered).

I'd really like to play a game with a decent matchmaking system (Halo 3's and SC2's are okay) so that you don't have to spend a lifetime trying to find a match where each player is of a similar skill level (theoritically, the most satisfying challenge is one which is equal to your skill), but Battlefield still holds onto the awfuly outdated server list system where you play against random kids of random skill levels, it's possible to see the game's skill range in a single match (an FPS beginner trying to figure out how to aim a gun and walk at the same time, and a veteran pro FPS player).

  • Might be handy to have a list of those thing stickied.

  • Mipey that only saves a page, I want a site. I don't see the option in FF4 to "save site as"?

I tried Httrack, but I don't think it allows you to log into a site before downloading it.

  • Does anyone know how I can download a web site? I want to be able to read it while offline. I've tried one program called FreshWebSuction, but the problem is that the site is forum and you have to be logged in to read the forum (so it only downloads the front page which asks to register).

  • I prefer C1's design to MMF2, but MMF2 will work more easily on more computers (no DirectX updating hassles etc.).

  • So you want to turn off the "solid" attribute? You could just use your own custom method of collisions with events, so it only colides with objects you want?

  • I'm not sure I understand, do you want a red cube to be placed when the white cubes are placed in a certain formation? Could you post an image of what the formation (with red cube) should look like if the code was working correctly?

  • When are you going to be working on C2 full time?

  • I think I remember TGF having a decent editor, you could click on a sprite in the object list then right click in the layout to place an instance of an object, rather than dragging 1 object at a time or control + dragging to make copies.

  • Wasn't there some clickteam fans who use to attack this site?

  • The only "magic" way to help a game be played again and again, is for it to be always providing a challenge (easy examples are multiplayer games and arcade single player games) and for it to be very well designed aesthetically and mechanically so that it's a pleasure to return to.

Although it depends on your audience, the simple and non-gamers don't need much at all to play a game a lot, as long as there is something to bait them with, such as statistical growth.

  • I've played probably played close to 100 hours on Ketsui Kizuna Jigoku Tachi, it probably doesn't take an hour to finish, and I haven't finished it yet. It's just really polished and very well designed.

For a game to be played a lot, it doesn't mean you have to have an absurd amount of content or randomly made content.

  • Looks nice, interesting name for you company though "2 Bad Company", almost sounds like "Bad Company 2". Good luck people searching for you on google lol.
